New cheats or additions to existing ones?
« on: June 02, 2011, 10:25:59 AM »
I already know about the Edit In CAS cheat, but haven't heard of any others. Are there any others at all? Have some cheats been modified to add new options? Has Buydebug menu been expanded? Thanks. :)

I think you are talking about the new ecit in CAS. You use  testingcheatsenabled true to take an exisitng Sim into CAS to edit them. It's the same interaction as trigger age or change traits.

The only thing new in Generations that I saw can't be bought in buydebug is the imaginary friend doll, so that has been expanded too. I think you can grab some lifetime rewards in that menu as well as all the trophies for childhood afterschool activities. Good for adult decor since they may have participated in those things as a kid.

I didn't notice that edit in CAS was new, guess I'm rusty. I'll add that to the cheats list.

How do you change traits? I've read the cheats and tried it; but couldn't do anything to change the traits.

Without opening my game to double check, sorry I just do it automatically and never pay attention to my movements, you use testingcheatsenabled true and then shift/click on the active Sim. You should get the options to change traits, trigger age or take them into CAS to edit.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You are right, as far as I know. Though, you also get the "Change Favorite Music" option too. But that doesn't matter of course. ;)

So I get except Edit In CAS there are no new cheats? Bump. :( And no others are listed in the "help" list? (Ctrl+Shift+C, then type in "Help")

Thanks RunaAmokSimms, but I've tried that and it doesn't work.
Could it be because the sim was originally a NPC?

I do hope in a later patch (for Generations of Course) they add an Imaginary Friend doll to the buy debug cheat.

You buy the hover bed in buydebug. It's expensive though.

New cheat everyone! According to Generations readme we got a new one: moviemakercheatsenabled true.

How to enable it? Simple. Type in testingcheatsenabled true in the cheat console (Ctrl+Shift+C), followed by moviemakercheatsenabled true. It brings a bunch of new things that were previously featured only in The Sims Medieval.

1. Shift+Left Click on the Sim, the new options are:

  • Animation... - lets you choose from a long list of various animations, useful for screenshots and movies
  • Turn Off Freewill (or something like that) - turn of freewill for that Sim only
  • Turn Off Look Ats - turn off the interaction "Look At" for all Sims

2. Shift+Right Click on a Sim that is not part of your household. An option will appear, "Make Active Sim" or something like that. Momentarily switches households to let you control the Sim you clicked on. Very useful for screenshots especially.

The second one ("Make Active Sim") last how long? This could be very useful for many things.

As long as you wish, or until you use the cheat on another Sim outside of the current household or use Edit Town. ;D
