Sims 3 game quitting right away

Okay well I just finished downloading and installing the digital version of Generations. Then when I clicked on the icon to start Sims 3 it just automatically quits about 10 seconds later. I also noticed right before it quits the icon for generations pops up on the side then disappears. Any idea on what to do?

Anybody know?? I was really looking forward to playing Generations.

If your running Vista, you need to change your DEP settings. Let me know if this is the case and I can get my husband to run through it with you when he gets home in 1.5 hours.

It's fairly simple but my brain isn't working right tonight (I can't work my head around your time being 2 hours later than mine even though I'm in MST! It doesn't make sense.) I could try if you need help before then.

I actually have a Mac and right now I'm gonna uninstall my game and reinstall it too see if it helps. Thanks lilygirl!

Ah, I can't help with a Mac. I have one but all troubleshooting there is left to my husband and his use of the internet! Sorry.

Try reinstalling just Generations.

Ok Pam but how exactly do I unistall Generations? Do I just delete the installer and then reinstall it when I'm done? I've never done anything like this before so sorry if this has already been asked.
EDIT: Ok well I've deleted anything I could find that had sims 3 generations on it, but still whenever I start to try the game the Generation icon pops up and then the game suddenly quits. I'm starting to think maybe I should just uninstall and then reinstall the sims 3 bas game plus WA LN and Ambitions.

This is an older thread where I had this problem. Hopefully it helps. Also, this post talks about how to uninstall your games. Unfortunately I have Vista and not a Mac, but hopefully one of them will help.

Follow the instructions here for manually installing the update on your base Sims game on a Mac: http://help.thesims.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5269

A lot of Mac users had the same problem as you have had with the new update, whether they installed Generations or not. I manually installed the update and the problem was solved.

Unless custom content is involved, you should not have to uninstall anything.

So CC is just itmes from the sims 3 store, right? Or does it mean 3rd party items?

It works!!! Thanks you SO much Matrona ! Sadly, I did lose all my CC but I can easily download it from the sims 3 website again. Woo!
