Thanks for the comment, Joria.  I wasn't sure anyone was really interested in this story, but your post and a message from someone else has convinced me that I should get back to work and finish - there really isn't too much more left, in any case.  I haven't had the heart to start up the game since the Pets demo nuked all my store and Swap Shop downloads - I dread to see what I'll find - but I will do it in the next few days.  Promise.   :) And thanks again for reading.

Oh and, Joria?
BTW, you can have Leo I want Laurie!

Quite right.  Go for the guy who can cook, every time!  ;D But I'm hoping that at least part of Laurie's appeal is his kilt.  :D

Oh, Schip I am SO interested in this story! You should definitely continue, even if the Pets demo messed up your downloads.

Oh thanks, MoonsAreBlue.  I finally got up the courage to go see what damage the game had sustained from that infernal demo.  It's truly bizarre - some store items were still missing, even after several attempts to download and re-install them.  Patterns gone.  Other patterns, including Sunflower's Superman t-shirt, were intact.  I don't get it, but I will never, never again download a demo!  Sigh.  Anyway, I think things are almost back to normal.  Not exactly in some cases, but most of the clothes and household objects are reasonably close to what they were.  I hope to have an update in a day or two.

It messed up my game too, but I had a backup of my downloads folder from when the last patch messed me up. I just deleted the Downloads folder in my game and replaced it with my backup, and everything was still there. So I wouldn't say don't ever download a demo again, just backup your Downloads folder once you get everything re-downloaded.

See, I told you, lol.  Will be waiting for your updates schipperke and will read every word.  I am glad not too much was gone from your games.  After reading the problems, I didn't even bother to download the demo. :)

Smart you!  I think the moral of this story is, don't be the first to download a patch or anything new.  You'd think I'd know that by now.  ::)

I'm sorry to hear what happened to your stuff!  I was going to download that demo but an angel on my shoulder said stop!  (pc froze)  So I never did download it.  However, I am noticing many of my store items are not showing up and the same goes for patterns.  Also, things I've saved, like a rug for instance, shows up colored entirely different from the one I recolored and saved!  Weird.

Ok, this is off topic so any mods or admins watching, please be kind and close your eyes!

There's a song I know.  The chorus goes like this:

Let the wind blow high, let the wind blow low,
Through the streets in my kilt I'll go.
All the lassies shout HELOO!
Donald where's yer troosers.

lol

I hear it every time I see Laurie.  hehehe  (and I KNOW what they wear under their kilt!)
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

Chapter Thirty-Four (A Private Discussion)

Wednesday morning.  A writer sits at her desk, desperately seeking inspiration.  What to write about?  It's been such a very long time since the last update.

Suddenly the quiet is shattered by the clamour of loud voices.  The writer gapes as the jumble of voices resolves into identifiable speech.

Sunflower:  Do you think she's finally going to start working on our story again?
Marigold:  I have a painting commission!  The town is waiting for 15 paintings from me!  How can I ever meet my commitment if that lazy Schipperke keeps taking time off?
Laurie:  I was supposed to be in France by now!  Not still at school eating meals made by those students who, frankly, just aren't very good cooks.
Marigold:  Nobody is as good a cook as you, Laurie.

Leo:  I think it's shameful the way she downloaded that Pets demo with no thought for how it might affect us!  Poor Joyce and Kay - their clothes still aren't back to normal.  Kay has to go around in that colourless hat because her hat still isn't back in the game!

Sunflower:  You really shouldn't be too hard on poor Schipperke.  She's [whispering] really not very bright, poor dear.  I once saw her struggling to understand a toilet, of all things!

Laurie:  It's quite unconscionable for her to leave us here in limbo like this!  How long has it been, now?
Sunflower:  Long enough for you to need a bath, anyway.
Laurie sniffs his armpit:  Well, it's not my fault!

Leo:  If Schipperke is going to neglect us like this, I think we should get a new manager!  You know, Saltypaws treats me very well in her games.  She wouldn't neglect me!
Sunflower remembers Mr Payne saying that Leo doesn't stay in any one place very long.  She wonders if Leo is thinking of moving in permanently with Saltypaws.  She feels an odd churning in her stomach and thinks it's probably because she hasn't eaten in a long time.

Marigold:  It's because she's busy building slum houses.  Which is about the only kind of  building she's fit for, really!
Schipperke:  All right!  You lot, just pipe down!  I would remind you that you owe your very existence to me.  But are you grateful for all I've done for you?  Why, I could wipe you out with a single keystroke -
Laurie breaks in, smirking:  No, you couldn't!
Schipperke:  What are you talking about, Sim?

Laurie:  You're so technologically challenged, Human!  You don't even realize that I've sent off this "Private Discussion" to the Forum, where everyone can read of your perfidy!  If sweet reason won't persuade you to get off your lazy rump and work on our story, maybe we can shame you into it!
[loud sounds of cheering Sims, while Schipperke hustles off to find a dictionary.  Perfidy:  the quality or state of being faithless or disloyal - Treachery]

Goodness, I hate it when my Sims are smarter than I am!
[voice from the living room:  that's not hard, dear.  We're your dogs and we're way smarter than you are.  Now, are you going to shift yourself and get on with taking us for our walk?  We're waiting!  ... and waiting ... and waiting ...]

Lol, that is too funny.  Sometimes I wonder if these guys are smarter than us sometimes.  Schipperke, that was hiliarious.  Poor Leo, he has no idea what I have in store for him.  He won't see it coming.  Your such a meanie, haha. :)

Awww Schip, I have been following but didn't get my encouragement in soon enough. :)  I love your story and glad you've picked up again, although this installment did make me laugh a lot. :D  Trust me, if your sims saw what salty puts hers through, they would NOT want to go there. :D ;)

Now that was something I was happy to find in "Show New Replies To Your Posts" this morning! On two levels - one, I'm now cracking up laughing, and two, it's back! YAY!
