I don't know what brought me here today after all this time. I just had the thought, I wonder if the Flowers are up to anything new? And lucky me! Two new chapters! Thank you Schipperke!

Re: The Flowers waiting for Grim - Party Duds
« Reply #301 on: October 09, 2012, 11:25:21 AM »
I'm working on the graduation party, which will be a big update.  One of the joys of the new Computer is being able to change my Sims' clothes without waiting forever for everything to load and then having the game crash!  So I thought, why not make this party a costume party and show off some of those clothes we haven't been able to use recently.  I wish there was some way to get the guests to come in costume, but at least the members of the household can dress up.

Imogen in her circus performer outfit:

Joyce as a colonial lady:

Kay also dresses in old-fashoined garb:

Is this a cupid outfit Laurie's wearing?

Leo looks very swashbuckling in his pirate duds - I think they suit him:

And, sadly, the limited selection of attractive clothes for elders leaves us with very little choice for Marigold and Sunflower.  Sunflower dresses as a private eye:

Marigold's version of a chef's outfit:

Now everyone's dressed and ready.  As they wait for the party guests to start arriving, I catch sight of Leo deep in thought:

Well, isn't that interesting.

As we all know, Sim parties usually attract one or two gate-crashers.  In downtown Sunset Valley, a certain individual is seen asking directions to the Finishing School:

Now, why would Grim be interested in the Finishing School?  Do you think he's planning to enroll?  Has he suddenly developed a yen for learning?  I suspect he has a darker purpose in mind ...

The party update is going to be quite long, so I'm going to post it in several parts over the next few days.  Here's part I.

The Merry Din

First, the results of the scavenger hunt.  Clue Number One:  "Check me out!  'Ave no fear!  I'm 'armless!"  Laurie and Joyce correctly solved this clue with a picture of the checkered armless statue at the art gallery:

The second clue was "Keep out!  I'se watching you!  This is mine!"  Imogen and Kay solved this clue with a picture of the eyes peeping out of the boarded-off entrance to the old mine:

The third clue, "A marsh in a muddle" was easily solved by Imogen, who loves to do cryptic crosswords in her spare time and recognized that "in a muddle" is a common way of hinting at an anagram - a word that's been muddled up.  She rearranged the letters of "a marsh" to form "Sharma," the day spa.

Congratulations to the students, who will all receive vouchers for treatments at the spa.  And did any readers figure out the answers?  Unfortunately, our spa vouchers are good only at the Sharma Day Spa, but congratulations to anyone who figured out one or more of the clues.

Leo is really getting into this pirate thing.  As the guests arrive and the party starts rockin', Leo finds himself recalling this line from The Ancient Mariner:  "The guests are met, the feast is set, may'st hear the merry din."

Sunflower is standing by the door waving good-bye to a would-be party crasher (not Grim, I'm glad to say).

Leo's been practicing his pirate lingo.  He swaggers over to Sunflower and says:  "Avast there, me proud beauty!  This old swashbuckler is hoping for a dance with the prettiest girl in the room - how about it?"

To his surprise, dismay, and complete befuddlement, Sunflower whirls around and dashes from the room!

Leo:  What?  Was it something I said?  Did I get my pirate talk wrong?  Somebody tell me what happened?

Party, Part II:  Cupid's Arrow

As Leo stands, staring uncertainly after Sunflower, the party continues.  Leo's party plans may have gone pear-shaped, but elsewhere a good time is being had, especially by Marigold and Laurie.

Marigold seems quite entranced by Laurie as Cupid:

The party goes on around them as some of the guests turn to watch, but Marigold and Laurie only have eyes for each other.

It's said a picture is worth a thousand words.  Enough chatter, here's the picture:

Yes, cupid's arrow found its mark in Marigold's heart.  I've always had a particular fondness for red-headed Sims, and I have to admit I just love seeing those two together!

Now Leo, old dear, don't you think you'd better stop standing there like a rooted pot plant and go after Sunflower to find out what's wrong?

Poor Leo!   :'(

I didn't get any of the clues, though after our conversation for the Mole, I probably should've gotten "A marsh in a muddle."

Marigold and Laurie are too cute together! I love redheads too. Hopefully Leo will be able to get his pirate talk right and fix whatever happened between him and Sunflower.

Ok, here goes...

After torturing myself in two sessions to stay awake and read the ENTIRE thread on my phone, I summarily demand you save Sunflower by some means. This story may not end through a glitch... It'll break my heart.

Donatello, I can't imagine reading this whole story on a phone!  I am truly impressed that you would do that.  And I hope you will not be disappointed when you read the next two party updates.  As soon as I get the screenshots uploaded, I'll post the next part and the final bit of the party should be sometime tomorrow, I hope.

Party, Part III:  Leo Tells All

Leo finally bestirs himself and follows Sunflower up the stairs.  He finds her standing in the dimly-lit upstairs hallway, crying.

Leo:  What is it?  Is it something I said?  Please don't cry!  Won't you tell me what's wrong?
Sunflower:  You're cruel!  How could you mock me like that!  I'm not blind - I can see the room is full of beautiful young women and yet you come up to me pretending to think I'm beautiful!  Look at me - I'm old and bent over, and I have the ugliest clothes around!  Oh, Leo.  I can't help being old, but it's cruel of you to make fun of me!

Leo is dumbfounded.  The poor guy never dreamed Sunflower would take his light-hearted comment this way.
Leo:  You thought I was mocking you?  That's what you really thought?  Sunflower, I would never do that in a million years!  You're my Supergirl.  Don't you know how I feel about you?

Well, no, Leo.  Sunflower doesn't know how you feel about her.  Maybe because you've never told her - is she supposed to be a mind reader?  Come on, Leo, just say it!

Leo (thinking):  That voice is extremely irritating, but it does have a point.
(out loud):  Sunflower, I love you.  To me you are the most beautiful woman in any room.  That's why I said what I did.

Sunflower:  You love me?  You really do?  For real?
Leo:  For real.  And I've been hoping you might come to feel the same way about me.
Sunflower:  Oh, Leo.  I've been in love with you since the day we went for the motorcycle ride.  It's been so hard watching all those young students always going over to your apartment, throwing themselves at you.  I was so sure you would fall in love with one of them, and that would be that.
Leo:  Supergirl, I've been around.  I've known lots of girls, and I was always the love 'em and leave 'em type.  They were all pretty much interchangeable.  Then I met you, and I came to admire your determination and your spirit.  You had a rough life but you didn't feel sorry for yourself, you just did what you had to do.  You have something none of those other girls even come close to.  You really are beautiful, with a beauty that isn't just skin-deep.  I didn't want to come here, you know, but that changed when I got to know you and Marigold.  I came here because Mr Payne made me come, but you're the reason I stayed.  I want us to be together forever.  Let's get married.

Sunflower:  Oh Leo, I wish I could have met you years ago, when I was still young.  But look at me - old and bent-over.  Grim will be coming for me any day, you know that.  It's too late for us to be together.
Leo:  It's not too late!  I've been taking Science lessons from Judy Bunch.  She's been teaching me Chemistry, and I've finally learned how to make a Young Again potion.  If you drink it, you'll be a Young Adult again.  Think of it, Sunflower!  We can have a lifetime together.
Sunflower:  That sounds wonderful.  But what about Marigold?  She's a little younger than I am, but not by much.  Her appointment with Grim is coming up too.
Leo:  Yes, I know how close you sisters are.  That's why I made two Young Again potions, one for both of you.  Here they are:

Leo continues:  So will you take the potion?  Please?
Sunflower:  I have to talk to Marigold.  If she agrees ... Let me talk to my sister.
