Huh, that six deathfish deal surprises me... I caught three every night (at level ten) and then that murky water that it is found in would disappear...

Well, I wasn't specifically trying to test the statement, just catch a perfect deathfish for the Perfectly Happy challenge.  I was fishing with Perfect Angelfish, so that might have made a difference.  Also, my sim does have the angler trait, so maybe there is a limit for sims without that.  Of course, it could just come down to a matter of luck as well.

What time do you start fishing the Deathfish?

This was before the update, if that means anything.

I would start at 12 Midnight and go until the thing disappeared at three catches.

I just tried it again, and I get six, like that person said.

Interesting.  Maybe the updates changed it.  Glad you can get six Deathfish!

So I thought about making a new thread, but I thought it'd be easier to just add my question to this thread. If you stock the foreign fish in public ponds like the ones at the parks, will they be active and will they just add on to the fish already there, or will they make the other fish disappear? Just curious because I want to be able to catch the foreign fish without constantly traveling to the foreign destinations.

I think the existing fish will stay put.  It shouldn't matter if the fish come from the foreign countries.  If you put 10 of them into a pond to stock it, they'll act like any other fish in the pond.

In my experience with stocking ponds, once you stock the pond with whatever fish you want (includes foreign fish), then you can catch them and they are just added to the pond as other fish that you can catch.  One drawback, is they are never "active" (jumping out of the water), so for those fish it will be slower catching them versus the ones that are actually jumping and active.

Wildredchild -

Have you found that you have a better chance catching a particular fish if you stock it several times in a pond?  Once when I was stocking a pond, I would get better results when I "inspected" the water if I had put more fish into it.  But I'm not certain if that's how it works.

Pam --

No better chance then if I only stocked it the one time versus say 6 times.

Okay, I have some results after I tested to see what would happen when you stock foreign fish into an existing pond. The fish you stock with do not add on to the current spawner but form their own. For example, what I did was go to Central Park (is it Central Park?) in the middle of SV and I clicked the option to stock fish where fish were already active (the minnows, goldfish, lobsters, etc.) and chose to stock crocodiles. However when I inspected the water, the crocodiles were not with the other fish and were not active. So, when I inspected one patch, it would say active and then you could catch minnows, goldfish, etc. Move a very little bit away from that and inspect it again, and I found that it said decent place to fish, and only crocodiles are available to catch. Does this makes sense?

It makes sense to me, jmz95.  Thanks for testing it.  :)

Well, it wasn't exactly testing, I just did it since an answer hadn't come up yet here, so I though what the heck, it's no big deal to me!

Okay, so if you went to the grocery store and bought 10 gold fish, could you put them in the pond you made in the back yard?

Probably so, Kimmy.  It would be easy enough for someone to check.  My game is closed at the moment, but I'll try to remember to do it later tonight.

And...  I'm still seeing that the inspection of the water gets better when I put more fish into the pond.  I'm not sure what's up with that.
