Invisible Sim
« on: May 27, 2011, 09:10:27 AM »
My sims has become invisible and I don't know how this came, nor how to get rid of it.
He still can do anything a normal sim could only he is hard to track down. Anybody knows how to get rid of this? I will try placing him out of the house and back in now. Hope that will help.

The problem keeps continuing. Even though I've put the sim out of the house and back in. Now also other sims are infected.

That started happening in one of my games too and "resetsim" is what brought them back.  It happened  a couple of more times, but then it quit.  It was in a game that I had played for quite some time.  Might try it. :)

Nah, I could start the game but the file was corrupted. Whenever I tried to load it it would say 'an error has occured'. It turned out that both the actual file AND the backup file were corrupted and I had to make a new file. :'(

I guess I was fortunate then, but big files seem to be the problem for me.  That is why I have had so many problems with my dynasty.  Resetsim is a wonder cure for alot of problems, but not all, unfortunately.

That's just nasty! Total lost of the sims you have worked so hard for. Cheez, I wish there was something we could do about it.
It seems I was lucky too, as my family is still playable now.
And I also have a backup in the bin, just to be sure. Back the whole family with house up once in a while.

I have learned the hard way to backup everything.  I didn't use to do that, but with so many different glitches and bugs, now I have a folder seperate from my game that I keep backups in, so far so good, that I have not had to use them, but I know they are there.

I know in the game I was talking about with the invisible sims, both of them were playing chess.  You could see the chess pieces moving and you could hear them talking, but no sims and no plumbob.  I only used "resetsim" on the one and they both popped back in.  Hopefully it doesn't happen very often.  Has not happened since, so not sure what the problem was. :)

It keep happening in my game the whole darn day long. And besides that sims are getting freezing and not moving a single inch. Hmm, I'm tired about it now so I have closed the game. Maybe I will take a look at it again tomorrow, but resetting sims seems not to help here anymore. :(

I really really hope this isn't the end of my multi-generation family that's here since I first played the game.

Leto, you described problem many players expirienced in Rabbithole Career Challenge that is still active, you might want to read it through.

Thanks Anushka! In that case I will lock this topic and continue 'complaining' in the next.

I unlocked this topic, because up until now I have never really had too much problem with invisible sims, but since installing Generations, it has been awful.  I had a test family that I have been using to see what the new items and interactions were like.  I started the game and right off, all of the sims were invisible.  I reset them, which worked and put them back to bed and it started all over again.  They would pop out of bed and vanish.  I reset them again and kept playing and then my infant was missing.  I did a reset on her and she popped back up in the yard.  Was just wondering if anyone else is having a problem.  I realize this was problem a while back, but mine just started happening.  Was just checking. :)

That's awefull Saltypaws. You know in the most terrible case you could try to reinstall all and putting your savefile back in the new install. Than you can say if the problem still occures it is either in your hometown, or in your family.

I'm installing Generations right now so I'm curious about which bugs would be cured, and which new ones I will install.
