Question about Downloading
« on: May 21, 2011, 11:01:07 PM »
Sorry if I should not have posted this here.
What procedure should I take for downloading items? I would like to download two things, but I have no idea how I should do it. I know you click on the hyperlink at the bottom of a post, but beyond that, I don't have the foggiest idea. Can somebody help?

Depending on the browser you use, you need to accept the download.  For example, on Google Chrome, you click on the file in the lower left corner after it finishes downloading.  It automatically installs it into your game from that point.

For Internet Explorer, when you click on it a little pop up appears with options "Save", "Open" and "Cancel". You select Save, and it asks you what file you want to save it in. All you have to do is select the Downloads file in your Sims 3 section and press enter, and it will be saved to your launcher :).

Ooops, seems Pam's already posted. Hope this helps anyway!

I think you might also be able to click "Open" and it will do it automatically.  I don't remember ever having to select the location of the download when I was using Internet Explorer.

Thank you both!
So I use IE8, and would need to select either option in the dialog box that appears?

Excuse my ignorance, and the double post, but where is the Downloads file?

It's just a file called "Downloads" in your Sims 3 file, which is in your Electronic Arts file (it goes Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Downloads). I use Windows, and that's how it is for me. You might not have one if you haven't downloaded anything before, but I'm sure your computer will make one if you download something little and harmless from the exchange (like a hair colour or something).

So, just to double check, I've just downloaded Max Skills. I saved him in "My Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Downloads. Do I need to use the Launcher to install Max into the Family Bin?

Yes, but do I need to select him and press the "Install" button on the Launcher?

Usually, yes. If there's a little "installed" symbol in the status column and his picture is greyed out, that means he's in the game. If not, you still need to tick the box and click install. Like the Rockabilly hairstyle in this image:

Does Safari on an iMac work with uploading and downloading?

Thank you in advance for info and advice on how best to do this, if it is possible.

Welcome to the forum!
I have no idea, but it should work, logically.

I also have a question about uploading.
I'm thinking of uploading a family - 3 Sims in total.
Are the following facts correct?
1. I should upload them to the "Sims" board. (Obviously, but just to check)
2. If I upload them, the .sims3pack file will have all three of them in there.
3. It's Okay to upload multiple Sims in one .sims3pack file.
EDIT: 4. They're vampires. They will keep their vampirism when they are uploaded.

Are these facts correct?
