Is there something wrong with my MinusOne fridge?
« on: May 15, 2011, 11:20:21 PM »
This is weird, I thought the fridge you get for reaching level 10 in the culinary career was supposed to keep food good for ages. I have a sim who earned the fridge, but her and her partner are quite often sick after eating. At first, I thought it was maybe some of the food that was in their original fridge was just on the turn, so I took all the food from the fridge and had her do a heap of cooking. As soon as she served the meal, I would snatch it up and place it in the fridge. So now, they grab some leftovers to eat and quite often it's perfect quality and they get the good meal buff, but shortly after, they are nausous and running to the toilet to throw up.
As well as this, they often get a negative buff from supposed dirty surroundings while sitting at the table, yet there are no plates in the room and all the benches and sinks are clean and there is no food in their inventory. Quite strange, by no means a game breaker, but still annoying.

The fridge shouldn't be that way - like you said, the food should never go off when it's in the MinusOne Fridge.
Is it possible something else like a vegetarian eating meat?

No, it effects both of them and neither is a vegetarian plus it has happened with things like pancakes and autumn salad as well as meat dishes. It doesn't happen every meal though, so I'm at a loss. Although, I just thought, would it make a difference who made the meal? Nadine, got the fridge from work and is level 10 in cooking, while Jackson is only about a level 5 cook and he sometimes makes a meal.
It's in my challenge game, so I have other things to concentrate on besides what they ate and who made it. Once I finish the challenge, I might have to clear out the fridge and stock it again and keep a note of who made what and what quality it was when cooked.
As I said, it's not a game breaker, just very annoying to have them run to the bathroom when they could be doing something more productive.

What reason is given for the nauseous moodlet when it appears?

What I've noticed from my own fridge, is it seems to stop the going bad process, but it still remains as close to going bad as it was when you put it away.  So if I put a nice fresh plate away made by my chef Sim, it will last nearly forever, however if I put in say, a plate from work at the diner, that was closer to going bad when I put it away, it may go bad the instant they take it out of the fridge, even if the fridge says it's still in perfect condition.

OK, just went and played a bit. Out of 4 meals that Jackson ate, 2 made him nauseous immediately after eating. The first was perfect Stu Surprise made by Nadine. The message said he wasn't feeling too hot and to keep him near a bathroom, but there was no reason given. The second time he ate outstanding Apple Pancakes that he had made. The message was the same, except this one said it was from disgusting food!
All the meals in the fridge were placed there straight after they were made.

The person who made it shouldn't matter - in my game, one of my sims worked in the culinary career to get the fridge, but another was a main cook and it never affected the food.
Have you tried exiting the game and reloading? I find that that's often a simple solution to problems like that.

Did you happen to get the "bad apple" opp?? Do they garden?

No bad apple op and quitting and restarting the game has no effect. I've had the computer on and off a few times so the file really has been shut down a number of times.
I'm beginning to lean toward it just being a glitch.

Sorry, but I don't know what else to suggest. It must be a glitch.
Maybe you could quit the culinary career and start it again, so you get the fridge again and see if it works properly then?

No, this is my challenge file, so no trying the culinary career again.

From what I understand, those two Sims are bugged. If no reasons are given (at least I think so), it is pregnancy, but, of course, male Sims can't be pregnant no way - and your male gets the moodlet because of "unknown causes".
Are you doing the Rabbit Hole challenge? If yes, then be sure that you will stumble upon a lot of bugs - this one may be no exception. Sorry. :(

Actually, when a sim is pregnant, the reason given is "unknown causes."  I took it to read that there was no reason given at all.

"Unknown causes" means unknown reasons, right? Also, look above - I noted that in the next sentence.
