Choosing a Laptop - Laptops and TS3

Alienware M17X (which they promote as the "best gaming laptop in the universe") costs about a thousand and half, which is pretty normal for such a powerful laptop - it's i7 right off the shelf. The reason I don't like it a bit is that the battery is very poor (1-2 hour max), but sure, you can buy a new one.
I don't think we have custom laptop building service in my country, unfortunately. Prices here are rather high too - a laptop that costs 1,500$ in US is 3,000$ here -which is very bad. That's the reason I am going to ask my relative buy a laptop from there and send me it here. I am not going to pay double - nor my parents.

Wow, I don't blame you for that one.  I hope I didn't come across that all laptops were not compatible, because that is not at all what I meant.  I know there are good laptops from the get go, but financially, most people cannot afford the high price they bring.  I was fortunate because when my desktop died, my mom told me to get one off of the internet, which I did and I have not regretted it since, then I had one built for her, which is the one I an using now.  I hope you find what you are looking for and best of luck.

I'm really stuck with finding a laptop!  

So under a year ago I brought a DELL Inspiron 1546 for the main purpose of playing sims but also internet, work etc. Within the first month it had major problems turning on, sound, heat, everything basically, and has been that way for nearly a year now. Have had various attempted repairs and some bad service and have been finally granted a refund!  

So basically I want a laptop with all the usual, wifi, webcam of 1.3mp or more, mic, plenty of memory to add expansion packs etc. I'd like a screen of the same size 15.6inch.

Price wise I'd like something under £500, but if there's anything under £400 i'd rather go for that.

I've had so many problems with my Dell laptop and the service I've recieved that Id rather not go back to them.

Ive tried looking online and other posts but it's all just so confusing lol! If someone could help me with my specific problem that'd be great, searching for graphic cards and processors is way too hard and complicated for me!  

Also I definitely want laptop, cannot have a desktop as I will be taking it around with me and have no room for a desktop.

Well, I have absolutely no idea if the computers we can buy here in Australia are similar to those you can buy wherever you're from, but if they are, I can tell you the specs of my brand new Acer laptop that I bought for sims, and internet, word, etc...

my dad's computer is a Dell, and yes I agree with you. It's totally a pain! I use HP.  I've never tried Acer but my sisters laptop is an Acer and its amazing! I would give mine up for that one! Playing the Sims there is a dream! It's so fast! The internet is nice also fast. It's great for storing. The computer was bought last year in January.

Mine's an Acer laptop of average quality, and, well, I can't complain. If you don't overheat it, it does everything very fast. In case of problems with game crashing, I recommend getting a cooling pad or a fan, as they say.

Also what are your opinions on this HP one, i thought it seemed pretty good (and looks nice lol)

Thanks Chronic I've tried Yahoo Answers but only one reply so far It's so stressful trying to find the right laptop lol! I saw that you asked about Quad cores being not so good with sims too but I couldn't see any answers to it, did you find out in the end?

You're welcome. Yea, Yahoo! Answers can be rather unpromising sometimes. But I'll go ask your question from my account and see if I get more answers (and then report here obviously).

About your question, no I didn't find out that. At least that's what I heard, from some Quad-Core owners. When you think about it, it should work better, but turns out it is not, lol.

EDIT: Done, here. Let's see if we can get some decent answers.

Ok thankyou though Acer inspire and HP Pavillion seem to be the best ones at the mo
