Pile of wet clothes on the floor

Every once in awhile I would notice a pile of wet clothes in the wash room and was wondering why it was happening. Well today I finally saw the reason for it.
Two sims got the idea at the same time to move the clothes from the washer to the dryer. First sim arrives at the washer and removes the cloths and puts them in the dryer and leaves.
Now the second sim steps up to the washer and instead of the action being cancelled because the washer is now empty she opens the washer and takes out more clothes from somewhere. But now the dryer is running with the clothes from the first sim and the second sim just drops her load on the floor and walks off leaving a pile of wet clothes and a puddle of water. 
So after the first load gets done in the dryer I have to have someone remove the clean clothes, put the pile of wet clothes in the dryer and mop up the puddle.

But I'm just happy finally finding out why there was a pile of clothes and a puddle of water on the floor sometimes. And just thought I would mention it in case someone was wondering why there was a pile of wet clothes in they're wash room.

What happens if you put a hamper in the laundry room?  Will the second sim put the extra laundry there?

Interesting question so I gave it a try, I put a hamper in the laundry room and had one do laundry and when it finished I told two sims go move it to the dryer and the second sim still drops it on the floor. I guess because it's wet clothes they don't put it in the hamper.

I have two laundry rooms in one of my homes - one on the first floor and one in the basement.  I have had different Sims take the wet clothes from one washer and carry them all through the house to the other dryer, so yes two dryers do solve the issue.

Good idea, That's one of those ideas that makes me go duh, why didn't I think of that.  Over look the obvious.

I often get piles of clothes, because when I ask a sim to do the laundry, they'll often gather a few things, then drop them on the floor instead of taking them to the washing machine. I don't think it's because the machine is already full, it's just wierd.

I have this exact same problem. Without any interfering actions the sims bringing the laundry from the hamper to the machine will sometimes just drop it halfway and go do something else. Oddest part is that when you drag the laundry to the hamper, it will count as only 1 "pile" of dirty laundry, while before the "dropping" it was a whole hamper full.

I've had both issues.
With the one grimsoul talked about happens, it's usually because the dryer is full. I too have solved this problem by buying a second dryer.
With the one Pally mentioned, I usually just line up the "Do Laundry" action twice. That way, if they drop it the first time, they do it properly the second time around. Probably because the second time around, they just have to pick up what they dropped and put it in the machine.

It's probably because by the time they've gathered all the clothes they can't remember what they were doing with a pile of clothes in the first place.  So they just drop it and go off to find something to do.   Remember, Sims are idiots.

I have that happen also. They get side tracked easy.
And a few times instead of throwing the dirty clothes on the ground I've had them just put in they're inventory. It's like they decide they don't want to do the laundry so they try to hide it from me.

I've had the second problem occasionally, too.  I try not to put the washer & dryer too far from where the dirty laundry will be.  Of course, not having a washer & dryer works best.     I've never had dirty clothes in an inventory, but I have seen clean ones on occasion.  "Let's go swimming, everyone!  But first, let me put down this impeccably folded pile of laundry so it doesn't get dirty again."

I didn't know that sims could physically hold the clean laundry in their inventories.

I removed the washer and dryer from my  homes and that way they don't have dirty piles around, they just change clothes. Kind of like taking the clothes to the Dry Cleaner.

Laundry is a bit goofy.  When they get temporary pathing issues (a sim using the stairs before them) they'll drop the cued action entirely.  This is one of the many reasons I like Neat sims.  If you tell them to clean the house, when they get a pathing issue like that, they'll eventually get back to it.

I don't often end up with piles of wet clothes on the floor, so I wonder if you've created a pathing issue for them?  How big is your laundry room?
