I once sent my family to Paris and picked up a Nectar Maker, (they never used it, they didn't even get it out).
My Sim who had no experience in Nectar Making (she was an Elder, retired with only her garden and grand kids to look after) and so I put her to work making Nectar for the basement and just for fun (because when you drink some, you could be doing the most stressful thing, but as long as you have the "Sugar High" moodlet, your fun stays the same...) so she made it all the way up, maxed the skill within a few days (from nothing better to do.) So I had her get another one from Paris (and attempt the Chateau Crawl... yeah, not something I would recommend for an elder) but while I was there I picked up an extra Nectar Maker and brought it back, so that way she could continue to work on her Nectar while her Son, who needed to work a little more on his handiness, was able to fix up and upgrade both Nectar Machines.
So, well it was a bit of a rant, but there is something your elder can do!
