We sat at the table for the final time.
None of us spoke. It was a moment that was precious. A moment that had been waiting to happen for centuries.
I pulled myself in towards the table. I felt like it was lucky that I hadn’t eaten, because it’d all be coming up about now. I was still unsure if I’d be able to even bring the fork up to my mouth. I was still unsure if I could do this.
I thought of Lexie. I loved her. By god, I loved her so much.
I hoped that this meal wouldn’t bring the end of me – that it wouldn’t bring the end of us.
I lifted the first mouthful to my mouth, my hand shaking uncontrollably. But the smiles of my family encouraged me. They warmed me. I couldn’t help but smile back – we were doing it. We were finally saving Grandma Luna.
The ambrosia felt more than just warm within my body. It felt like it was warming my soul. It made me feel free. I felt as though I would explode with the amount of happiness I was feeling. I wanted to feel like this forever.
The feeling imploded, covering every inch of my body. I was alive. I was immortal. Immortal EightName: Elara (Ellie) Moon
