The Chance of catching Deathfish

For the Immortal Dynasty challenge (so no cheats), is there any chance of catching Deathfish without bait and at Level 1? If so, what is the chance?

I'd have to say chances of that are close to 0. You have to use Angelfish as bait. Sorry.  :(

I'm pretty sure that you won't catch anything that exotic at the lower levels. I had a Sim with the Angler trait that caught just about anything, without bait, at levels 9 and 10.

None. You need to be at level 7 to use the live bait (Angelfish), and otherwise deathfish can only be caught at level 10.

They are right.  You can definitely catch deathfish with no bait at level 10, it might take a little longer, but it can be done.  Other than that, I would say your chances are pretty slim. :)

You can, but not before level 5.
First, you'll need to catch an Alley Catfish (level 1). Wait until you get to level 5, when you can use live bait (in this case Alley Catfish to catch Angelfish). Then choose Alley Catfish as a bait and catch an Angelfish. After that, go to the Graveyard and choose Angelfish as the bait to catch Deathfish. So, you can catch Deathfish earlier, but it requires a lot of time and work. ;)
Well, that's your opinion, isn't it? And I'm not about to waste my time trying to change it. - Lady GaGa

I have caught the max of 6 Deathfish in one night with a Level 6 Fisherman who used bait.

This has been a great narrative on how to catch Deathfish.  But to answer Seabody's original question...  there's pretty much zero chance of catching a Deathfish at level one without bait.

The only way to catch a fish before you have the level for it is to use the appropriate bait.

You get the ability to use live bait at level 5, but catching them at this level is very difficult.  The best I've done at level 5 is 5 Deathfish in 5 hours, but the average is about 2-3 in the same amount of time.

There is a max? Or is it just the amount that is logically possible?

That's pretty much the max in the graveyard at night.

Hmm.  I'm very surprised someone managed to catch death fish before level 6.  I was under the impression that you needed to be level 7.

But to catch without bait you do need to be level 10 (9 if angler).
To catch with bait (angelfish) you need to be level 7 (6, possibly 5 if angler)
And with bait and a level 10 fisherwoman, I've managed 7 regularly.  I also didn't have that one skill challenge done yet, so that might make it faster.
