Can't Copy Household To Library
« on: April 28, 2011, 07:03:04 PM »
Please Help! My ambitions is messed up. When going into Twinbrook I dont see the sims on the side of the screen to click on. My sims wont do anything and some are missing. I figured I would uninstall and reinstall ambitions pack (while that was a problem on its own) I finally got that fixed but my town is still messed up! I tried going in to Twinbrook and at least saving my household to the library and it justs keeps PROCESSING! I had to use ctrl+alt+delete to exit out. I hope there is a way to fix this I just made that family!

This has never happened before  :'(

Welcome to the forum, chrys2611.  I have just edited your post to address the following issues:

1.  I changed the title as you had it in all caps which denotes yelling and is not appropriate.
2.  I removed a negative comment about EA downloads as it added nothing to help others understand your problem and EA bashing is not allowed on the forum.
3.  I changed "i" to "I" because that is correct English as per the forum rules which you agreed to when you signed up.  Using correct English also makes it easier for others to read and respond to your question.

I understand the problem you're experiencing is very frustrating, but please be more careful in future.  Thanks for your cooperation.

Hi chrys2611, Welcome to the best Sims forum on the Net.

I am replying to your post to offer you friendly support so that you will know that other's may have or had the same situation happen in their game.

Unfortunately I do not have an answer for the problem you are having in your game because the same thing has happened in my game, not in Twinbrook, but in Sunset Valley. Fortunately I have learned to save my game often, opting "save as" instead of just "save", so that I have many back ups to save me from losing too much of my game time in the event that my computer crashes, or the save error codes pop up. Yes, it is very frustrating and believe me, I, and many other forum members feel your pain as well.

I'm not sure that we can recover our game file as it is probably too corrupted. When I tried to save, I got the message "processing" too. It processed forever and I also had to exit the game the same way you did to get out of that screen. My Son is more computer savy than I am and he told me the computer would probably never finish processing because it was trying to search for something that did not exist. This same problem happened to me in "live mode" when I was in active playtime. I was in mapview and clicked on my active household and when it tried to load my house the computer or game glitched and my Sims pictures disappeared and the box at the bottom of the screen was gone. I zoomed in to see inside of my house and my Sims were not there and there was an empty house icon that indicated that nobody lived in that house. I had scrolling ability, but I had no mouse onscreen and there were no options anywhere to click me out of that "mode/screen". I had to exit the game by hitting "alt/esc", or something like that. (sorry, I can't remember exactly which button I clicked to exit, but it was either "alt/esc, or ctrl/esc" I believe.

Hopefully one of our "computer experts" here on the forum can correct or confirm this information about the computer "processing" while trying to save. We have some really smart people here on Carl & Pam's Sims site. Be patient, these are really nice people that are always more than happy to help you if they can. We have a very friendly atmosphere here and have fun sharing game experiences as well as helping each other out when we get in a jam. Good Luck.  :)

Hello chrys2611.

I've had this problem before.
I've also taken a look on some sites (I won't link to them as most are mod and CC sites), and I think it's bugged items. If there is any CC in the house, delete it and try again. Failing that, it's probably a bugged EA store/EP/SP/Vanilla item. And the house is probably full of them.
It seems to be rather rare, or it was for me. Others, it was as common as wind.
Is it just this savegame?
Does your computer meet the minimum specs for TS3?
Does this happen in other neighbourhoods?

It only happens in twinbrook. All other towns work fine. My computer meets the requirements, I checked all that before i bought Sims 3. It just started one day after I hadn't played it for a couple weeks. I have no idea what EP/SP/ Vanilla items are.

EP - Expansion Packs, like Ambitions
SP - Stuff Packs, such as High End Loft
Vanilla - items from the base game.

As Seabody suggests, there may be a bugged item in your game, possibly something from the Exchange if you've downloaded items there.  It may also be a mod or CC that you had before you installed Ambitions that was working fine before but doesn't work with the new content in that Expansion Pack.  If you have mods or CC, try uninstalling them and see if that fixes the problem.  Alternatively, as catlover suggested, your game file may be corrupted for some reason.  What happens if you start a new game in Twinbrook?  Do you have the same problem in all Twinbrook files or just this one?

I have tried to start a new game in Twinbrook and it worked fine. I even thought my family was too big and tried to split them up but it did the same thing.  I dont know what happened but I just went ahead and deleted it.

Thanks everyone for all your help!!!  :D
