Help! My baby's missing!
« on: April 26, 2011, 01:13:43 PM »
Help please! My sims had twins. When they had them, I saved and quit the game. When I went to play again, one of the 2 children was missing! i'm sure it's not dead, because it appeared in the other sims' relationships and on the family photo. I haven't seen any social workers taking it! What happened?  ???

Have you right clicked the baby's picture to move the camera to that sim?  selected it on the left so it should have the plumbob above it's head?   If you don't see it, you may need to resetSim.

Well, that picture to the side has disappeared, according to dimitra, so resetsim might be the only option.

This happened to me in a recent game a baby and a child just disappeared. It happened when I changed active household and I was unaware that social workers could take children from a townie household. Their pictures showed up in the family tree but they were no where to be found.
I never found the missing children I hope that you can resolve this problem.

How do I resetSim?
Type in testingcheatsenabled true into the cheat window (ctrl-shift-c to get it up) and then make the cheat window come up again and type in resetSim firstname lastname. For example, if resetting Cornelia Goth:

resetSim Cornelia Goth

Hope I helped!  :)

Do you have a previous saved game with the baby still visible?

Also if you don't have another save you might still try the backup save the game makes when you save over a previous save. If you haven't made any more saves since then.

Go to your saves directory at Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves and there should be 2 folders there with the name of your save.
Like if your save your game as dimitra there will be a folder call dimitra.sims3 and one called dimitra.sims3.backup. Rename to backup to something like dimitra2.sims3 and when you get to the main menu pick that save file and check it.
A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad memory.

Just for information purposes, you do not have to type in the testingcheats cheat to "resetsim".  It works on its own.  I did try it, however to make sure I was correct. :)
