Problem With Crooked Walls
« on: April 23, 2011, 07:00:09 AM »
In my Tunic Manor, I have recently noticed that the walls are crooked. By this, I mean that the upper first story wall (In one particular area) has a bump and a wave along to top, so this has influenced the second story floor. When I try to place a rug, or such, in the affected area (Which is most of the second floor), some of it gets cut off. I believe the root of the problem is that that ground wasn't flat, so the foundation was affected.
I don't have pictures, but I will have some soon, if they are needed. I don't want to have to rebuild the entire house, so I need another solution.
Thanks in advance. :)

I think part of your lot might be elevated too. You don't have to delete the house, just hit the level lot button in build mode. I have this problem sometimes too, it keeps me from placing items at all.

When you use a foundation, it's not supposed to be affected by the terrain at all, regardless of whether it's level or not.  The only time the terrain does affect the foundation is when the "constrainfloorelevation" cheat is set to false.

There might be an easy way to fix it, though, depending on how extensive the problem is.

Go into build mode and enter the cheat:  constrainfloorelevation false.  Then use the Level Terrain tool inside the house on all of the affected parts of the foundation and the second floor (if necessary).  This should affect the walls as well.  If it doesn't, enter "constrainfloorelevation true" and remove the parts of the walls that don't look right and rebuild them.

I had an issue a while ago like this. I was trying to build a second story catwalk between two buildings but it was too long so I needed to put in some columns for support. I put the columns in and it warped the elevation of the second floor on the inside of both buildings. I ended up building a short wall in the center, building the catwalk over it and then deleting the wall.  Could I have used constrainfloorelevation true to fix it? I use moveobjects all the time but I never use the floorelevation cheat before.

Thanks for the advice, Hosfac. I will try that as soon as I can, and get back to you.

Thanks for your help, but I've already tried that, and it didn't work.
