my sims are gone
« on: April 14, 2011, 07:23:37 PM »
Ok, I'm new here so forgive me if I break a rule. I was playing a family and then decided I would start a new game in the same town, and add another sim so that one of my sims could possibly hook up.  I created my new sim and now my family sims are gone.  What do I do?  I want to play in one town, but keep adding more sims I created. HELP!!

If I understand this correctly, you want to add some Sims into your game while keeping your orginial family? If you're playing on the PC version, all you need to do is open Edit Town, and near the bottom is "Create a Sim." From there you can make new households and put them into your game and you can keep playing your first Sims. I hope I answered your question, and if I interpreted it wrong, please correct me.  8)

The way I read it, they've already tried.

Are you playing on the PC version or one of the console versions?

I heard that it is impossible to do so in the console versions. Is that correct?

I'm on a pc version, but I'll try editing the town and see if that works. I just lost a sim family that I worked hard on so now I'm starting over.

Where is the edit town button if you are already in the game?

If you click the Options button (the three dots button) or hit F5, you'll see Edit Town on the menu that comes up.  That's the best way to add families to your town without changing your active family.

Also, from what I read, you said you went to "start a new game" to create a family.  Did you save your game at any point with your last family?  If you did, you should be able to see that save at the main menu, so they're not lost.  However, if you didn't save you probably lost all of your progress up until that point.  But, that doesn't mean that the family is totally gone.

If you created the family yourself, they will still be in the Family Bin unless you deleted them yourself.  You find this bin by starting a new town and instead of entering Create-A-Sim, you click the button that says "Move In Household" (something to that effect, anyways).  You'll find all of the families you've created, plus a few pre-generated families that came with the game.  Your families will be in front, starting with the one you created last and going backwards chronologically.
