Aging of children

I didn't know where else to post this question, so I hope here is ok. I also hope that this wasn't asked before....

So, whilst working on my Legacy challenge, my sims ended up having twins and when I was looking to see how soon they will age up to toddlers (b/c even simulated babies aren't my thing) I noticed that the age up dates were not the same for both of the twin girls.

One twin will become a toddler 5 days sooner than the other. Is this normal? Has anyone else noticed this?

Wow!    No idea as I just had my first set of twins and they are still infants.  But I'll know soon.

No, that's not normal.  It also sounds like you're playing on the long lifetime setting because on the normal setting, I don't think infants would even be infants long enough for there to be 5 days difference.  The Legacy Challenge is supposed to be played on the normal lifetime setting.

As for the infants, twins should age up on the same day.  Try checking it again after shutting down the game and restarting.

When I have played a family in the long lifetime setting, I do get the twins with different age up dates.  Mind you it is only by 1 day and I just age the second one up with a birthday cake the same day the first one ages up and that sets them up for the rest of their sims lifetime to have the same birthday.

You know, when I read over the rules for the Legacy I didn't see what life span the sims should be on, so when I created the founder it was just set to whatever I had it set to before. I remember seeing other people ask what life span it should be on but there was so much going on in that thread I never saw the answer...

Am I able to change it to normal from here, because quite frankly, I'd prefer a shorter lifespan. I'm ready for these kids (all 3 of them!) to grow up and for these parents to die already!! 

I know I can age up a child once, but I worry that they always will be 5 days apart....

Maybe I should just start over, but I really really really don't want to....

And considering that it's your game, you can really do whatever you want.  It's just that you won't be able to fairly compare your scores with others who have been on normal lifespan since the beginning of the legacy.  You'll be very close because you still have the first generation, but you won't be exactly on target.

Hmm, well, I'll just keep going the way I am. I did change the life span tho. I put it on Normal.

And honestly, since it's my first time doing the challenge, I'm just hoping I get thru it! Next time I do it, I'll be sure to follow the rules more carefully

I will, no worries.  

I mainly wanted to try the challenge because it was so different than my normal playstyle. I cheat like crazy when it comes to money and I spend a lot of time building and creating different looking sims or just playing one sim working on skills and lifetime goals. -never really played a family....  It was just too many people to control and I like to control them so I never played with free will on before....

That last sentence makes me sound like I have control issues lol

I forgot to mention that when I changed the life span from Epic (yeah it was on Epic ) to Normal, the twins were still aged one day apart, but that's ok. I can work that into the story easier than them being 5 days apart.

I love playing families!  I was at full capacity with 2 parents and 6 kids, and it was so much fun!

Yeah, I went through the same thing with Sims 2. I started with only 1-person houses, then 2 people. Finally I was having families with kids going to college and coming back and starting their own families and so on...
With Sims 3 I've only just graduated to 2-person households. 

Re aging: I recently made a household with two sims, I had aging off and maximum lifespan. I created them at the same time but they were not the same age, one had several days longer to live than the other. At the time I thought I must have done something different between the two but if the same thing happens with twins I guess it's some random feature of the game...

Re. aging...Read a thread on the EA forum about difference in ages and apparently they start aging once you create them in CAS.  This seemed odd, but when I created my 8 Sims for my Asylum Challenge I built my controllable Sim first and then the other 7.  When I put them in the game the controllable Sim was indeed the oldest out of the bunch and the youngest were the last one's created in CAS.

I did not know this, so weird. I wonder if this means a sim could live his entire life in the CAS room. How depressing...
