The glow is a manifestation of light, pulled in by the gravity of a Sim's body. (Only Evil Sims have enough gravitational pull, sorree.) It actually means that Artie has become separated from his own gravitational pull. LOL. If my Sims-physics prowess satisfies you, Juxt.
But I like that lagging glow, it seems distinctive to Artie.

I'm a little curious about how story progression is going with this beach thing. You said no new babies were being born - is that still the case? Maybe you should have put one room with a double bed in the bunkhouse. Are new families still moving in? Are the new families coming to the beach like everyone else? This is really kind of creepy.

I have personally seen at least two women go into the hospital and come out with babies.  These women are never home - they are only at the beach and at work.   I have no idea how they're doing it.  All the new families are also congregating to the beach too.  I'll see if I can post some shots of the beach for everyone during one of my updates.  

The ghosts from the graveyards are also going to the beach to hangout.  In fact, Jocasta from my own graveyard across the street went to the beach and got stuck there.  I had to resetSim her to get her back into her grave.

It's weird and creepy yes, but like I jokingly commented on the Challenge thread, I'll always know where to go for spouses!

I'm glad you're keeping a sense of humor about this, Rica.  Not having to track down potential spouses is kind of a decent trade off for the creepy 'everyone's at the beach' bug.

I loved the bit about Artie and his glow.  Perhaps he is becoming less evil in his old age and hence exerting less gravitational influence over his glow...  Don't tell him I said that, please.

I love the new beach, Rica! I heard in the Generations hype that Sims would be able to dig in the sand at the beach, anyone know of this is true? I only mention it because the sandbox struck me as redundant on a beach, IF Sims can in fact build sandcastles in the beach sand.

Rica: "Yay you got your wish achieved!  How do you feel?"
Bella: "Exhausted and the party hasn't even started yet."
Rica: "That means you need to worry less and have more fun. So go."


Rica: "What is all the banging?"
Michael: "I"m upgrading the stove!" -shouts over banging-
Rica: "Why are you using a hammer?"
Michael: "Because that's how you upgrade the stove, silly!"


Michael: "Tada.. I knew a little tinkering would work."
Rica: "Wow.. Three skills fully maxed - Go Michael!"
Michael: "Thanks!  Guess what? I get a discount now for building stuff, too."
Rica: "So what you're saying is I should work on that little project we all have before the party starts."
Michael: "Probably would be a good idea since the party is in an hour."
Rica: "Ok.. I'm going!"

The project we were speaking of was upgrading the kids room for the girls.   I wanted to add some of the new stuff we got recently and try out loft beds.  





Rica: "Hey it's Party time!"
(1)Angelica: "Blow out the candles, Alicia."
(2)Bella: "There you go sweetheart.  Just like a  big girl!"
Rica: The art of synchronized candle blowing is almost perfected!


Alicia goes first with the sparkles while everyone patiently waits to slice open the cake.  I'm more anxious to see how she turns out!


Then Cassandra follows with her own sparkle dancing routine.   Alex looks a little worried about Artie and his cane so close to the baby.


Ta-da!
Rica: "Wow you're both so big and cross-eyed. The same hair too!"
Alicia: "Rica… everything is fuzzy."
Cassandra: "Can we eat the cake now?"
Rica: "Yes eat cake, enjoy the party.  Alicia.. try not looking cross-eyed."
Alicia: "Nope still fuzzy. " -scrunches her eyes- "It's better when I do this."
Rica: "Oh boy.  I think you got your Dad's need for glasses.  "

Cassie's new child wardrobe.  Cassie's hair seems to have darkened since she was a toddler.  Maybe she'll be like me and a blond at birth but a natural brunette by adulthood.


Alicia's new child wardrobe.  She did indeed need glasses like her father does but I promised her contacts if she wanted them as a teen/adult.

I haven't actually sent anyone down to the beach to do that but I will today!  I don't think the option has ever come up.  I know that the girls were finding stuff in their own sandbox that they didn't put there.  I'll do research for you!

I'm glad you're keeping a sense of humor about this, Rica.  

The funniest part about all of it is that when my Sims are sleeping I watch the people at the beach.  Sometimes they're more fun than my actual house because of skills and work that have to get done, too.  Like the fact that I put male and female doors on a building that didn't have separate rooms.  The Sims had a field day yelling at me because if a girl was in there the guys wouldn't go inside and vice versa.  Then of course they all have to use the same toilet.  -giggle-

I love the girls child wardrobes! And the decorating on their bedroom, the loft beds with a desk underneath are super cool!

Rica: "Don't but me.  First day to school tomorrow and the rules are a lot stricter than they used to be.  I need you both cleaned, fed and out the door at 8 just to get you to school on time!"
Alicia: "Just a little longer. "
Rica: "No.  I will not start bad habits now.  If we start this now, imagine how mad you'll be when you don't make it out of the house on time and you miss a field trip day and you two are the only kids in the entire school having to do math while everyone else is at the stadium or science center."
Cassandra: "Alright… Alright.  We're going to bed."
Rica: "Sweet dreams little ones."


Artie: -glow-
Alicia: -boo-
Artie: "Did I fart or something?"
Rica: "When she was born friendly, you had to expect there to be consequences to being the Emperor of Evil."
Artie: "What do you mean?"
Rica: "I mean as long as you are the Emperor, your relationship with the girls is going to be at odds just like with Bella and Malcolm. "
Artie: "I guess I didn't realize that."
Rica: "I don't think I did either but it is what it is."


Bus Driver: "Good Morning Children.   Ready for your first day?"
Cassandra: "Yes.  We should probably go now."
Bus Driver: "As you wish.  Tell your mother Angelica that Number One says goodbye."
Alicia: "Wait.. who?"


Malcolm: "This place is just perfect!  The light is good.  No one is here."
Rica: "What are you doing at the park instead of work?"
Malcolm: "I'm shooting some B Roll footage for work.  I think we're going to use this for my next film,  WooHoo and the Town."
Rica: "Interesting.  You'll have to tell me when that one is out.  I can't wait to see the Sim version."


Rica: "Stop staring at the house!"
Annie Grim: "I want to come out and play!"
Rica: "Not until Riley shows up!"
Annie Grim: "I want to come out and play!"
Rica: We have one imaginary friend stalking the house and the other one seems completely unresponsive.  I do believe that this timeline will have no IFs for Alicia and Cassie.  However this child like image is always outside and across the street whenever I'm on Alicia.


Rica: "Whatcha doin' Cassie?"
Cassandra: "I'm painting the lighthouse."
Rica: "You're doing a very good job."
Cassandra: "Thank you.  Mommy is inside painting, too."
Rica: "I see that.  Do you know what she's working on?"
Cassandra: "Alicia's portrait.  I told her I didn't want my portrait done and she said that was ok but Alicia had to since she's a Grim."
Rica: "It will all make sense later, I promise."
Cassandra: "Ok but I still don't want my portrait done."


Angelica: "Huh.. where.. Ow."
Rica: "Nice technique there Angel.  Showing Alicia all your moves I see."
Alicia: -giggles-


Bella: "Ut oh."
Rica: "Aww man.  That's the second time you've had a birthday at that easel.  Why didn't you remind me?"
Bella: "Because we just had a party for the girls and I didn't want any more cake.  Then I would be old and fat."
Rica: "You would not.  I'm sure you'll be absolutely gorgeous once the sparkles are done."


Rica: "See what did I tell you."
Bella: "It sucks that I lost my curls."
Rica: "I know but the new hairstyle is nice too. "
Bella: "You think I look good?"
Rica: "I think you look real good.  Ready for a new wardrobe?"
Bella: "Yeah.. I want to try a couple of new things."
Rica: "Ok lead the way."


Ta-Da!  Bella's new elder wardrobe - proving she may be an elder but she can still wear hot pants or a red dress anytime she wants.

That was so realistic. I know many kids who hate going to bed. You really are a great writer Rica.

Rica: "No luck finding that rainbow gem huh?"
Artie: "Nope - none in the catacombs."
Rica: "We just have to be patient."
Artie: "It's the last one I need for the heart cut though."
Rica: "I know.  We'll just have to keep looking.  I'll see if I can do some more research for you."
 

Rica: "Now what are you doing?"
Artie: "Reading to my glow."
Rica: "Ok.  Why?"
Artie: "Why not?"
Rica: "You get weirder with every bite of Ambrosia."
 

Rica: "Hey you stole Artie's miner!"
Bella: "No, the consignment Shop just sold me a second one.  I figure I'm old now and this is what old people do right?"
Rica: "Well sometimes.  Do you want to go into the holes?"
Bella: "No.  I just like making them."
Rica: "Fine by me, I'll just keep throwing Artie down into them. I mean, Let Artie know if you find one that should be explored."
 

Rica: "Isaac, Jeannie - What do you have there?"
Isaac: "Meet baby Jenni."
Jeannie: "The newest member of our gnome family."
Rica: "Aww - what a cute little gnome nooboo." 
-does the I just got a gnome nooboo dance-
 

Alicia: "Cassie?"
Cassandra: "What?"
Alicia: "We're going to be best friends forever, right?"
Cassandra: "Of course we are."
Alicia: "Good.  I can't wait to go to high school together."
Cassandra: "Yep me either.  After high school, we're going to get boyfriends together and then we're going to get married at the same time."
Alicia: "And we're going to get pregnant at the same time like our mommies did and then our babies will grow up to be best friends!"
Cassandra: "Just like us!"
Rica: -thinks- I think they're onto me! 
 

Angelica: -laughing- "Whee!"
Rica: "Having fun my dear?"
Angelica: "Yeah.  I forgot how much fun this was."
Rica: "It's easy to forget the fun stuff when you work every day."
Angelica: "I have fun at work, too.   After work, I took all of Thornton's office stuff and put it in the bathroom on the third floor.  I made sure to tag each one with a yard sale tag, too."
Rica: "He can't demote you for that can he?"
Angelica: "I don't think so."
 

Rica: "Whoo! Sparkles!  Are you sure you're happy we didn't have a party?"
Malcolm: "We still have cake left over from the last party."
Rica: "Ok well make a wish and let the sparkles do their magic!"
Malcolm: -a moment later- "Ta-da!"
Rica: "That's a spiffy work uniform you got there.  How do you feel?"
Malcolm: "Like an old man and I think I lost a contact."
Rica: "We can get you a new one."
Malcolm: "Nah - I think I want glasses again.  So much easier to handle."
Rica: "You're the boss.. let's go find that dresser."
 
Rica: "Ready for your closeup Mr. DeVille?"
Malcolm: "Of course."

Malcolm: "Not bad for a guy in his 70s.  I could stand to spend more time on the treadmill again though."
Rica: "That's your personal choice.  You get two more promotions and I'll let you do whatever you want for the rest of your life."
Malcolm: "Sounds like a challenge.  I like a good challenge."
 

Fashion Show!  Malcolm went with prescription goggles for his swimsuit so he can see all the pretty ladies down at the pool.
