Hi Canquain! I play the PS3 version but I've heard that the PS3 and 360 versions are exactly the same. I know for a fact that you can grow money trees however I'm not sure about "making" them. As far as I know, you have to find an unknown special seed and hope it grows into a money tree. You can search on the ground or even find one while fishing. My favorite place to search for seeds is by the graveyard. Look all around. My second favorite thing to do is use the 'Get lucky' karma power on a sim and then have them go fishing. They will find all sorts of stuff including money tree seeds. Hope this helps!
