Strange marriage
« on: April 10, 2011, 11:18:44 PM »
So I decided that my blacksmith might like a wife. I got him to court Good Peasant Carol who he paid to have released from the stocks as part of his quest. I invited her over several times and eventually asked for her hand. The next day, I invited her over again and we had the marriage there at the Blacksmith shop. A heap of guests turned up and then the official arrived and they were married. Immediately after the wedding she left and hasn't returned to the dwelling for a number of days. I tried to send a pigeon to invite her, but she is no longer on the list of sims that I can invite. I did find her standing around talking at the judgment zone and I can talk to her there, but she won't leave the place... that's one strange marital arrangement.

I've had a similar experience, Twinmum.  I did that quest where the Monarch has to choose a bride from various applicants.  They got married and she immediately went back to the village for the night.  I rarely ever saw her in the castle.  My reaction was the same as yours - it seemed a very strange sort of marriage.

I noticed that too. That's just because they're like any usual NPC, just marked as your wife/husband. I have had similar experience. My Monarch married earlier for fun, and when I was doing the Heir to the Throne quest, the marriage option wasn't coming up. Only then I remembered about her long-lost first husband, had them divorce, and have never seen him again. The second husband is always with her, though. He's the Royal Advisor. :D
Well, that's your opinion, isn't it? And I'm not about to waste my time trying to change it. - Lady GaGa

I married my monarch off to one of the guards so he's always around, and quite happy to kiss his wife while on duty!

My second time around my monarch married an NPC and of course, he vanished like the others.  However, once she finally got him to woohoo with her and they had a child he was usually in or around the castle and spent a good amount of time with the baby.  Once the baby aged up he still stayed with her though their interactions were minimal.  They bill and coo and do kissy face a lot.  This was with the "handsome lass".

First time around with a different monarch she wound up having to get a divorce since she could never pin the dude down long enough for a woohoo and baby.  She was seriously considering the pit.

Third time it was the heir to Effonmount.  She was in love with Lassiter, (again), but had to break up with him, (and he got quite nasty over it!), in order to do her duty to the throne.  Marrying the heir to Effonmount was a huge mistake.  So far she can't pin him down to woohoo and produce an heir to either throne!  In the future that would be a quest I would avoid doing.

In my current game I have married my merchant to my knight, both drunkards and very happy, (he will be my choice for my next kingdom's king),  my physician to my bard, they have one child, and I'm considering what other hookups I want.  Blacksmith and spy?  Peteran and wizard?
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

Whenever I've married my monarch off to someone, it's always been to someone with a lot of business to do at his castle, so they're around a lot.  In fact, when I chose the Smithmaster of Crafthole (tastefully redecorated), she actually did appear to live in the castle, making food for him and sleeping there all the time.

As for other possible marriages, my Jacoban priest is very fond of dropping in unannounced on my Peteran priest.  If they weren't both men, it could be a very holy wedding.   ;D

I just thought it was so strange the way it works for them, they haven't even been able to consummate the marriage yet  poor things lol
Guess I'm just used to marriages in Sims 3. One thing that I did like was how many guests turned up for the wedding, there was a lot of people in the blacksmiths shop for the occasion.

my blacksmith is married to a ticktop golem, strange for outsiders but I consider it a perfect fit. Though, how they had a perfectly human child without crushing the wife and the whole mechanics is beyond me lol.

Have you tried sending a pigeon to invite her to some place that has a double bed - like the palace?  If they are married she should be on the invite to 'blank' list.

My Monarch married someone that was constantly away (on business ;)) and I couldn't find him on the invite list.  Then I tried the invite to 'blank' and he was there :o.  He and my Monarch met at the pub and finally consummated the marriage.  I placed a marker on him so I could find him again, but since the Prince was born he has been around the palace all the time.

I think it's just a quirk of the game, since it seems to be fairly common. My Queen's husband  is never even in town that often, he's always inside one of the doors or wherever it is that NPCs go to at night. The person who sleeps in my Queen's bed is the royal advisor (who is also her ex-wife!).

My queen's husband is a Town Watchman and he's never at the castle and seldom comes to sleep.  The only thing I do is turn the Sim marker on for him, so I at least know where he is.  So far, all of the other husbands have come home every night to sleep.

Strangly, my Monarch wife (the ettenmont princess) is rarely home, either. Which is odd considering that she really has no reason not to be. Unlike a guard or executioner.

I've noticed that when your heroes marry quest related NPCs they seem to be a little more inclined to stay around home.  One of my Monarchs married the witch and while she may wander to the town square during the day she spends a lot of time in the castle.

I had my monarch marry the builder for the Heir to the Throne quest. He is always around but never sleeps; he just reads all the time and never comes to bed. After woohoo he never stays. I hope future expansions will be available that has the ability to have your partner move in and actually have kids that resemble the parents. Looking forward to where this game series goes. :)

Does anyone know if they will expand this series? I know EA like to milk a game for all it's worth, so it would be good to know for sure.
