Hello Seabody,  it seems I've missed your last question.

Yes, you can move the patches from one computer to the other.

Have you been successfull with patching?

I haven't patched yet. I've just got back from vacation, and I wanted to know if I could transfer patches.

EDIT: *nearly faints* Thank you BellaClo! I patched my game, and CAW works! Thank you so much! Once again, thank you! I can't thank you enough! ;D

Thank you again BellaClo, but I've got another question.
I highly doubt I'll be able to buy Generations soon after it comes out. I want to download the patch that will bring the features of Generations to my game. Do I need to download anything different to do this?
Also, if I do buy Generations, will I be able to install it since I have the patch?

When LN came out, I downloaded the patch and then installed the game when I got it. I didn't have to download anything different, and there wasn't any weird glitches that came with this.

Hello Seabody,

Glad to see my previous explanations helped you!

If I remember correctly, you have Late Night (6.something) but not Outdoor Living stuff pack, right?
Then you'll need to download the new patch for the Base Game, indeed, so a "1.something", and the new patch for Late Night too (a new "6.something"). Since you have fully patched you game recently, and are thus on latest patch level before Generations, the incremental patch will be enough.

When you get Generations later, you won't have any problem, like TallStar said. The EP will install a new folder, 'Generations", under Programs/Electronic Arts/..... In that folder will go all the 'new junk' from the EP :-). Then, the EP Install Wizard will check the patch level of your Base Game. Since it will already be patched correctly, the process will end there.

Note 1: I'm under the impression that EA will release a lot of bug fixes with all the patches that'll come with Generations (so Base Game + all EP and SP). You might want to patch your other EP's or SP's too. I hope it's not a false impression because there has been some nasty bugs left behind for a long time.

Note 2: Like usual, it seems that those new patches bork CAW. Before installing anything, do a complete back up of all your CAW projects (the folder named "The Sims Create a Wolrd Tool" under [User Name]/Documents/Electronic Arts). Then, I guess we'll all have to download a new CAW again.

Note 3: I've just read on a site that can't be named here that there will be new freebies for players who upload memories to the Sims website or facebook. The good news for you is that the memory system is included in the Base Game patch. There are some nice stuff: barbecue, bookshelf, a hot tub (!!!!).

I think you have exams for the moment, right? Good luck with those!

All done. :D

I believe I understand that, but just to clarify, the patches (and program) I will need to download/reinstall are:
A base game patch
A LN patch
The first Generations patch (?)
CAW
right?

No need to download a patch for an '.exe' that you don't have. Once you will get Generations, and have it installed on your computer, you'll need to download those patches. They will be "8.something".

Congrats for your exams!

I am getting Generations on Friday as it only comes out in the UK then and I am hearing of my people about the latest patch is not available, do you think it will be ready?

Or will I need to do a complete uninstall/reinstall?

I only have base game plus ambitions. Will the latest generations path affect my game?

It shouldn't affect your game. But Only patch the Base Game and Ambitions. Do NOT download the Generations Patch (Patch 8.something). Download the latest Base Game patch, and the Latest Ambitions Patch.
Oh, and I'm also going to rename this thread to "The Patching help thread".

Thanks Seabody. If you hadn't said something I would have downloaded the generations patch and messed up my game (I think).

Hey, don't thank me, thank BellaClo. She said that about 3 posts above mine. She also taught me all of this - if you have any questions, as far as I know, Hosfac and BellaClo are the people to ask.

I think it's time for me to re-install my game, but I want to patch only to pre-Generations state (I posted about this earlier here). I checked The Sims Wiki's list of patches, and from that I assume I should patch my base game to version 1.19.44, and then patch each EP manually to "same level" (2.14.4 for WA, etc). Then, I went to The Official Forums to check out the cumulative patches, but it was to the latest version (1.24.3). I tried to search for a cumulative patch for 1.19.44, but couldn't find it there.

Then I went to The Simprograms.com, and they have the separate patches...

I'm confused! If it's not too much trouble, can someone clear these questions for me? Thank you so much in advance.
Do I need to download all 19 patches separately for Base Game only, and then for all EPs I have...? (from Simprograms for example) I do NOT want the Generations patch, or the one released two days ago.
Or, is there somewhere an older cumulative patch which I didn't find?

Noodles, I surely don't think that you need to download all those 19 patches. A friend of mine wants to do the same thing as you, so if contacting them doesn't help, I'll go seek a cumulative patch 1.19 for you too (I'll do this now). :)
Well, that's your opinion, isn't it? And I'm not about to waste my time trying to change it. - Lady GaGa
