Sims Error! (Please read this)
« on: April 07, 2011, 05:32:08 PM »
OK I am kind of angry right now so I'll try to be short. An error occurred while playing in my second kingdom (Sims not responding kind of error) but fortunately I managed to save before quiting the game. I guess that was the biggest mistake I did since I have started the game because now the save of that kingdom is broken it fails to load and always crashes if I try to play it. Not being very optimistic here but maybe you guys have an idea of how I could undo this if I can undo this.  :( Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear you received an error.  The only suggestion I have is to start your play from your last previously saved game.  You may have to redo a few quests depending on how often you saved but it should work.

This suggestion is only good if you have been saving your progress, as many have suggested, by using different names such as - Simolia 1, Simolia 2, Simolia 3 and repeat or something of this nature.  I have been saving my game after each completed quest just because I have a real life habit of save, save, save ;).

If you haven't been saving your progress using different names, then there is no way to undo the damage and you are just going to have to start from the beginning  :'(

Thank you for the answer I was expecting as much. At least now I know what to do in the future right? Might as well be realistic about this. Thanks again Mtglady.  :)

If it is not too late, have you tried deleting the corrupted save file and renaming your backup*, then trying again to see if you can load the save?

It may not work. When I had my funny error and crash as I was saving my game, I was unable to get my renamed backup file to work.. but I figure that it can't hurt to try.  Good luck.

*e.g. with a save file called 'Kingdom', delete the folder 'Kingdom.tsm' then rename the folder 'Kingdom.tsm.backup' to 'Kingdom.tsm'.

Hi,

I tried deleting the file, and renaming the backup file but it doesnt work. The game would say that i've encountered an error and have to keep restarting the game. Any other methods that will work?
