Need help with store bought items!

Hi, I've recently registered to the forum (as you can tell by my post count lol) but I've used Carl's site almost since I bought the game and also lurked on the forum and such. Anyway, my problem is the stuff I bought at the official Sims 3 store won't show up in my game. A couple days ago, I thought, "Hey, I've got 2,000 sim points, might as well used them" and bought a couple of sets I was wanting. I downloaded them, installed them, and went to my game, but in buy mode they won't show up anywhere. I have the latest patch, is this just one of its bugs?

Did you install them using the Launcher after you downloaded them from the Sims 3 Store?

I have a similar problem. I have never been able to get the Montalcino Sports Car (the one you get to download for buying the Collector's Edition) to load into the game. I download the file install it into the game. It shows up in the launcher to install like everything else. It says it installed, but never changes the status symbol. And of course its not available to buy in the game.

It's not a game breaker for me, but hey, I'd like to have my sims zip around in a car no other sim can own. LoL!

Any ideas?

Hello. I have finally got the game yesterday along with my new laptop to play it one. Still trying to learn the ropes of the game before trying any of the challenges. But I do have a question and I am sure this question has been asked over and over again but could anyone please tell me how to get the things I bought from the sims site onto the game? I can't seem to figure it out. If anyone could give me a step by step as to how I would be very grateful.

If these difficulties started happening after 1.8/2.2 patch/update then it's probably a bug EA is going to have to fix with yet another patch.

I was used to browsing the exchange for objects and patterns of walls and floors that I use in building and remodeling.  After above came out, downloader has been broken...freezes before I can even dl anything and it is driving me crazy. 

I really really wish they would fix this dl thing as I know I'm losing all kinds of really neat patterns in the exchange...not to mention no store dl's as well.

You will locate your items that you have downloaded from the store in your launcher in the downloads tab.  You will need to check each box on each item or use the "select all" button.  Once the item is installed in your game, it will be grayed out.  If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask and welcome to the forum!!

I think you could be right, I've just tried to dl 'Explorers Loot' (I think that's the name, it's the free stuff you get when you register WA) and although it shows as installed in the launcher, it didn't open the game screen like it used to do and tell me that it had installed OK.  I have no concrete evidence for 1.8 because I didn't dl anything but I patched to 2.3 as soon as I got WA installed and this is my first attempt to dl content since then.

Thank you for replying. I am trying to get the new town Riverview into the game but i am not sure how i know that i have done it right. I first downloaded from the site then just recently downloaded it from the launcher. And what are all these patches I keep reading about? Should I use them too? If so, Where can I find them? Sorry i am new to the Sims 3 it has been a long time since i have played sims. A LOT has changed.

Sondra,

You can tell if you have Riverview installed correctly by starting a new game.  You will have an option to select which down you want to play.  If Riverview is there, then you're good to go.

As for the patches, your game launcher should prompt you that there are updates (patches) available and give you the option to download them.  The patches have been for all kinds of things that needed to be fixed in the game.  At least one of the patches created its own set of problems and needed another patch to fix them.

I haven't gotten a option of any other town to be in but i haven't made a new sims either maybe i will try that first.

I have riverview but I stall can't figure out how to access the stuff i bought on the site to put in my home on sims.

Yeah I did.

Yeah, I made sure the box in the downloads tab was checked and after the install, it became grayed out. I have downloaded some other stuff before the newest patch and it worked fine, so it must just be a bug.

My problems with the launcher have been few, but I have had some trouble too. 
After WA came out I downloaded the free Explorer's Set that came with the EP fine, it was the items that I bought on Sale that were missing.  I didn't remember everything I bought, but when they first put that "in store shopping button" in the game, it kept glowing while I was in build/buy mode, so I finally clicked on it hoping it would make it stop glowing.  So I played around in it to see what it was all about and found my list of items that I had downloaded.  I found items I had purchased that showed up as bought, but not installed into the game.  My launcher showed all the items as installed  ...how very curious...since the store in game showed them as not installed I decided to install them and sure enough they showed up in my game.    So I think when they made that button in game it somehow affected the store items you may have bought/downloaded at the time.

So I don't know if anyone else tried the in game store button and it may or may not help find some of those items that are missing. (the in game store button is on the left lower part of the screen menu and is shaped like a shopping bag)   Good luck!
