Royal Family
« on: April 06, 2011, 02:07:21 AM »
Ive created a Sim to be the Queen Monarch. She has a family oriented trait so I have to satisfy her need for a family. My questions are: can she have children from different heroes but not marry them? If my active Sim is the queen when the children are born, will they be prince or princesses? Do the heroes who fathered her children live in the castle?  Thanks for your replies!  :)

If she can woohoo with them, she can get pregnant without being married.  While I haven't tested this myself, I think a hero will only live in the castle if they are married to the queen.  Any children will generally have the title, "Lil' Swordmaiden" or a male equivalent.

Yes, she can. The pregnancy/infant stages are much shorter than in the Sims 3, and aging is non-existent so you can go kid-crazy, lol. Although I've heard after the 3rd child is born, the 1st born just sort of disappears.

That's only if the hero is married.  The thing is that you can't have more than four thumbnails, so the hero and three children is okay.  But if the hero has three children then gets married, one child will just 'leave' the family.

The child's name always takes after the father if the parents are both heroes, or after the hero if one is an NPC.

What do you mean four thumbnails since you don't get any thumbnail for the children ??? never tried for four children but that's just weird

I've never had more than 2 kids per hero, but I've never gotten a thumbnail for either of them.

Yes I guess that wasn't very clear about the thumbnails.  I should have said you can't have anymore than 4 family members.  You can add the kids' thumbnails with testing cheats though, and that's what I meant about not having more than 4.

I think the cheats shouldn't have been given away that fast. Anyway thanks for clearing that up with the thumbnails but still I think the cheats really break the fun out of any game, maybe it's just me. I also think one child is more then enough since you don't need 2 children to send them at the same time to the village shoppe also use the joking interraction meaning the silly face 2 times (I think) and you will get a +10 buff for playing with your kid  ;D

Does this mean that my Queen Monarch can only have prince/princesses if she marries an NPC ?
And/or the kingdom shall never have a prince/princess if she marries a hero because they will all have careers/trades after their father?

Yes and Yes. My King had two kids with his Physician, both were Princes not Bloodletters and the Physician was under my control. In another game my Wizard had a child with the Physician and it was a Lil' Sorcerer, they were unmarried.

My queen married my blacksmith.  They had two children.  One born out of wedlock was "Lil' Smith" and one born after marriage was "Prince" and was the heir.

My current queen married the heir to Effonmount so I've no doubt it will be prince or princess.  We'll see when the time comes.

Thank you for this Interesting thread of responses. What if the queen had children with two Sims, one an NPC and another with a hero... Will her children live with her in the castle? (or in other words, will she get custody of her children regardless if they are prince(s) or commoner(s)... will the two father(s) of her children get to automatically live with her in the castle too?  :)

Unless the fathers are actually married to your queen. they won't move in as far as I know. As for the children, I'm pretty sure they stay wherever the mother lives. They did for both of mine, anyway.

My monarch Lady Nicole the Great, finally had a child with a handsome NPC (commoner) - I forgot his name (LOL!) Anyway, they had a son whom I called Prince Lancelot. He has his mother's purple-black hair and sleeps with her in his own cot in her room in the castle. A pity we can't play the children, would be so nice if we could fix up their hair and clothes and for them to have adventures of their own, not to mention to grow up and have a kingdom of their own.  :)

I hope that in one of the future Expansions, which I am sure there will be, they will make it possible to make a new Kingdom with the Children of the Heroes where it takes you to CAS and you can change their Hair and Clothes but you may be stuck with the rest as it is.
