Trading and Merchants
« on: April 05, 2011, 09:52:24 PM »
I'm really getting into the whole merchant trading thing but I have some questions.

How does the Village Shoppe get supplied?  If my physician sells extra herbs and medicines do they appear in quantity on the list at the store?  Same for other "suppliers".

My merchant is making quite a nice bundle of money by buying at the store and then traveling to other countries to trade but....will the VS run out of products?

Why can't my merchant buy medical supplies directly from the Physician, same for herbs, or meats from knights or the monarch?

I wish we could keep what we do going from place to place.  It's really sad to have to start over constantly when you've managed to build something up.  Like good trading.

This should have been posted in the General Discussion thread.  Maybe one of the moderators could move it?

I just bought everything in the village shoppe, a few hours later it was re-stocked again.

Sold it some concecrated water, wasn't added to the buy list. Left and went back, still wasn't there.

I think the village shoppe gets supplied every day and I don't think that the supplies will get up if the physician sells them, not very sure about that though I didn't play too much with the merchant I'm more of a music lover ;D anyway you should try to annex every territory (if you didn't do that already) this will surely help your merchant a lot in quests, achievements and stuff  :)

I've gotten the option to buy supplies from my physician, but the only items that show up are things that the physician has crafted and is carrying in her inventory.  My guess is that you need to do more crafting with your physician if you want to buy potions and salves from them with your merchant.

Yeah, I think you're right.  My merchant is getting to be a pretty high level but my physician is still fairly low and I've not had much time with her so very little in the way of crafted stuff.  Only the low salve and tonic.  My merchant has gone to every territory except Aarbyville at the moment so she's doing real well.

Thanks everybody.

You can buy the craftable items from anyone who crafts.  It depends on their level as to what you can buy.  If they can make it, then you can buy it as long as they're not part of the quest.  So if you have a low-level physician, then you can only buy the weak salves and tonics.  It doesn't matter if they have them in their actual inventory.  I can buy things from my spy, for example, that I know he has never actually made.

I noticed that too.  I had just finished playing my physician and on the next quest, I bought some stuff and he had everything that he probably makes that I could buy.  That was pretty cool. :)

Yeah, you can BUY from someone but SELLING to someone is impossible.  Forinstance, if my physician goes to anyone they have to ask to buy, she can't just sell to someone.  Only the merchant can sell.  So she has over 200 of a certain herb and she knows the merchant can sell them in sea trade.  First of all the merchant isn't going to go up to her to buy those herbs and she can't offer them to the merchant.  Her only recourse for selling them is the shoppe or direct from inventory.  Makes the medieval barter system obsolete.

Right now my merchant's inventory looks like a giant super store.  She has it all!
