That's awesome Pam! Hopefully I remember my kid has an imaginary friend or else I'm going to be wondering about their sanity haha.

The article I read said that imaginary friends will be visible when the child is the active Sim.  When other Sims are active, the imaginary friend will disappear and it will look like the child is doing something alone.

@Pam: I also read somewhere that the imaginary friend will be visible to a childish (older) Sim as well. I (personally) believe that the same thing should apply to older insane Sims too. Do you think insane Sims should be a part of the imaginary friends club? (That's my personal name for it)

I didn't see insane Sims mentioned, so don't count on it.  We'll just have to see when the EP is released.

I find it very odd that imaginary friends wouldn't be visible to older insane Sims. One would think a Sim that would swat at imaginary pixels and talks to their self, would be able to see an imaginary friend as well.  ::)

I saw this paragraph at the Game Revolutions site.

"
Another cool little quirk is the imaginary friend for a young child. Little Timmy can play with his buddy, who can be dressed up in all kinds of costumes, and you can issue suggestions to the imaginary friend as long as you’re looking at them through the kid. Click over to another Sim, however, and the friend disappears, while little Timmy just looks like he’s playing on the see-saw all by himself."

P.S. So did I really see a new life stage there or is it just my imagination? The male Sim in the water slide part in my opinion is neither a young adult nor a full adult, somewhere in between. Should I have hopes for a longer life for my Sims? ;D
I haven't heard of it or seen it in the video. It could be true, but I just haven't seen any evidence to say it is.

Plus, my imaginary friends do not have human hair or skin colors either, so I find the RL, children bringing their imaginary friends to life for romantic purposes when they get older. If I could set my RL friend's imaginary friend with my imaginary friend, then it would be perfect.
By my understanding, we won't get to choose what the imaginary friends look like.
Gamespot's review says:
"However, the most interesting new feature in this expansion seems to be the imaginary friend; a character that your child creates after ordering a specific type of mail-order doll. After giving the doll a name, your child sim can summon an imaginary, child-sized version of the doll to be a playmate who will happily hop onto the opposite end of a seesaw and even run minor errands for you if you have a decent enough social relationship with it. Playing with your imaginary friend fills up your child sim's social motive in the same way as socializing with real people would. Even more interestingly (and more than a little weirdly), as children grow into teenagers, they can not only keep their imaginary friends around, but they can also develop a romantic interest in their make-believe buddies."

Which if it becomes a romantic interest....I wonder if it will still be invisible to everyone else?

I have no idea. Imaginary romances just sounds really odd. Anyways, I saw hopscotch in the trailer as well. Pretty neat. Do you think kiddie pools will be included as well?

Imagine how cool it would be if you could marry your imaginary friend and throw a wedding party and people would come to watch you get married, would they still behave the same as a normal wedding even though they cant see your "friend" would be so funny to watch!!!

I think I read somewhere that imaginary friends can become real Sims.  Maybe that's how the romance is done.

The whole EP sounds great.  I loved the memories in sims2 and I think it will add alot to the game.  I think I have watched the trailer a few times too, lol. :)

I wonder if imaginary friends will be the new life form.  So far, EA has introduced a new life form in every expansion pack for Sims 3.

We have not had anything else to suggest what could be the Creature apart from the Imaginary Friend, it makes sense to have a Creature associated with Children in this EP I think.
