Problem launching the game.

I've had a bit of a search on here and couldn't find anything that matched completely my problem but apologies if this has been a topic before. I'm having real problems getting the game to stay on my screen after I've pressed 'play game' from the launcher. I know there has been loads of problems with the launcher not working and crashing but the game doesn't crash as such, once I click, the common error message about the launcher has stopped working pops up but I don't press anthing and immediately the game starts up and goes into the black screen and then immediately minimises and I'm back to the desktop. Most times I can get the game to eventually kick in but this can be 10 or 20 clicks on the game on the task bar before the game stops minimising itself and it's starting to get really annoying. I can tell the game is running as when I click on restore and the black screen comes up I can hear the music but then it just minimises itself again!

Any tips at all? Does anyone else get this?

Do you have any other programmes running? My game will minimise itself if iTunes asks me to update it, or if my dad has left Steam running.

I'm not sure I understand exactly what the problem is.  After the game minimizes itself, does it stay minimized and won't open back up right away, despite the fact that you click on the task bar icon several times, or does it open up and immediately minimize several times?

If it stays minimized, it might just be that your CPU's processing capacity is just maxed out and is working to get caught up.  If it keeps minimizing, there might be another application that is active causing it.  Either way, this could be solved by closing all unnecessary applications (including explorer windows).  One thing I've heard of causing CPU problems is virus software.  Check to make sure that this software isn't performing a virus scan at this point in time and either allow it to finish or wait until it's done before playing.  Another solution could be for you to play when your computer is not connected to the internet, so you can safely turn off your virus software completely while playing.

Hi, thanks for replying. It opens up and then minimizes again after about a second. I generally don't tend to have anything else running either! Oh dear, clearly my game must be very strange........
