Dark Skinned Genetic Sims?
« on: April 03, 2011, 07:36:43 PM »
I am doing a small experiment on genetics and skin color, and now I am wondering how to breed out the pale skin. I started a small legacy for it, using different sims/NPCs from all 5 cities. I want to find a good partner for my next generation, and I need help to "darken" the skin color. who are some good Sims/original NPC/townies that have good, strong Genetics and have dark skins?

Here is a rundown of the legacy's skin colors so far: (I don't know how to put pictures up) :(
I'll tell the immortal's skin color, and Their partner, who are all original Sims.

Gen 1: Founder (Dark Brown skin) with Jamie Jolina in Sunset Valley.
Gen 2: Immortal 2 (Light Brown skin) with the Wolffs' child (during story progression) [has Morgana's skin color]
Gen 3: Imortal 3 (tanned skin, beige) with Lotta Greaves (resurrected from Bridgeport; has very pale, purplish ghost color)
Gen 4: Immortal 4 (a little darker than Lotta's color) with ???

Who would you suggest?

The problem here is that we cannot give you very good feedback as your game is a few generations in and your Sunset Valley could be very different from everyone else's Sunset Valley. Sims come and go from town, and once you're past the 1st generation, there are very very few Sims that are destined to stay in Sunset Valley.

Ellenser is right, but after reading the the post again, I'm thinking that maybe you're selecting townies from the different locations and placing them in Sunset Valley via Edit Town.  So, are you asking for the beginning townies who have dark skin?

I don't think you can breed out the pale skin. Or any genetics for that matter. They will show up in a third of fourth generation. I tried breeding out the dark genes once using Ethan Bunch and Holly Alto (both were YA's) and the baby had Black hair and tan skin, like both of Holly's parents.

Sure you can.  Pinstar has legacy challenges based on breeding out bad genetics.

Really? Because those genetics can somehow show up randomly 5 generations from now. It's been done. I tried breeding out dark/tan sims using Holly Alto and Ethan Bunch, 5 generations later, one of my sims were tanned with dark hair. Just like Holly's parents.

But that could have come from anywhere.  Any of the spouses could have had darker skin in their family trees.

Holly Alto did. Her genetic differences are exactly the same as Khloe Kardashian and her parents and siblings. Also I must note, that the Keatons produced a second child that was light complected with blonde hair and green eyes. (Odd)

I'm sure you can breed out certain genetics - it will just take a lot of patience to do so!

And often, quite a few generations.

Nose structure is the most difficult genetics to breed out, in my opinion.
Well, that's your opinion, isn't it? And I'm not about to waste my time trying to change it. - Lady GaGa

You'll get no argument from me on this.  :P

Noses and big chins. It is almost impossible to breed out the Leno chin  :-[

So true.

That is exactly why Arlo Bunch is never an opportune choice for my legacies.

Don't forget Christopher Steel's thin lips, either  ;)

To answer the question (sorta) when I need a specific type of Sim, I just make one. I go into Edit Town, hit create a Sim, make the Sim, move 'em ito a house, and then go back. It won't be a premade Sim, and if you're doing legacy/dynasty/challenge, then it won't work, but it could help.
