I find it rather odd that a loner could be friendly. Another odd trait combo is a couch potato that loves the outdoors. The weirdest two traits a person could have together *drum roll please* mean-spirited and good. I find it really strange, and abnormal that a mean-spirited person would want to brighten another Sim's day, and donate money to charity. A mean spirited Sim donating to charity and brightening other Sim's days, as well as congratulating them on their wedding day, makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

I don't quite understand how friendly is at odds with loner.

The friendly trait is defined as:
    * Sim's friendly social interaction are accepted more often.
    * Friendly Sims make friends faster than other Sims.
    * Sim is a good listener, even when others repeat themselves.
    * Friendly Sims will have the desire to become best friends with their enemies.

I can see them co-existing just fine.

I think charismatic is the trait that is more at odds with the loner trait.

Hmm. I think a big part of the Friendly trait is that it makes a Sim really nice around others. Even if they're a Loner or Shy, they'll still let you repeat social interactions and they'll build up relationships faster. It's because of their temperaments that Friendly Sims make more friends in the long run. It overlaps with the Good trait in that regard, I think.

For Couch Potato and Loves the Outdoors, I have one word: surfer  ;). Plus I know I'm one to sit outside with a book all day, so there's that.

EDIT: Aaaand Ellenster beat me to the reply. Oops!

I see where this is coming from, in terms of the friendly loner combo. However, my odd trait combo, I mentioned before, a good person that is also mean-spirited, I don't think many people are aware, that having both the good and mean-spirited traits exist.

Yeah, the good/mean-spirited combo and loner/charismatic as well as a few other combination really don't make much sense.

Loner/charismatic. That's another trait combo I totally missed, that I find quite odd. Charismatic/mean-spirited is another rather strange combo as well as schmoozer/mean-spirited.

Bottom line: any social trait that involves unlocked nice social interactions, goes really odd with the mean-spirited trait.

Here's another odd trait combo: Inappropriate/friendly.

I don't think schmoozer and mean-spirited are at odds. Schmoozer gives the impression of being a total suck-up and saying things for personal benefit, whereas friendly/charismatic interactions are more genuine and heartfelt, I guess.

Inapproriate/Friendly - I haven't really thought of that particular combo. A bit on the fence for that combination.

Haha, I know a few people in real life that would have the Inappropriate/Friendly trait combination  :D For example, somebody who randomly sleeps in your bed or uses your shower could still be nice, right? As long as they don't start implying that your mother is a llama, of course.   ;)

I think the Good/Mean Spirited combo is the strangest.

Ahhh I see. Schmoozer seems quite genuine to me. I can however see how a schmoozer could be mean-spirited now, particularly your typical female highschool bully.

In the meantime, as many people said. I find it hard to believe the same Sim that wants to get in fights with everyone would want to help the poor, and congratulate me on my wedding day. Perhaps if a mean Sim donated to undermine charity it would make much more sense.

Has anyone played with absent-minded sims, or daredevils? I don't hear much talk about those two traits.

PS: Put your absent-minded Sim in the kitchen or at the dinner table.  :D

Christopher Steel is the spouse of my founder in my dynasty, he has the Daredevil trait. The trait unlocked some very funny social interactions, including certain typical duties were marked as 'extreme' (i.e. 'Extreme Sleep' instead of 'Sleep' and so on). Nothing really special except Daredevils will get a +50 moodlet while on fire, and it will last for 3 hours, before they burn to death (if that's possible, but I doubt it is). Never had the strenght to play an Absent-Minded Sim, though. ;D I am not that cruel!

For me, the mean-spirited trait is one of the least useful not because it's bad or unpleasant but because it's not expressed very well.  I've had several mean-spirited sims where the trait got shoved into the background and I forgot they even had it.  Other than the outbursts of random anger which affect neither the sim nor those around them, you can't even tell a mean-spirited sim from who isn't.

In my dynasty I've had interactions with 2 mean-spirited townies:  Jared Frio was a best friend of my founder and Jeremey Langerak married my 3rd generation heir.  It was pretty clear that both were mean-spirited because they would randomly end up with negative social interactions if left to their own devices.

Ah, I see. See, I've never played one. :)

Absent minded is a trait that (in my opinion) really serves no purpose or benefit to a sim. In my opinion, it is of those traits that children develop when their parents fail to nurture their toddlers with the proper guidance, and attention they need in order to become successful children.

Clumsy is another trait along the same line as absent-minded. It really serves no purpose, the only thing really is that they will run into trash cans, and trip up the stairs.

EDIT: @TheCronicR: Yes, daredevils will get killed in a fire, but it is quite rare. However, when freewill is turned off, the chances of a daredevil being killed in a fire increases by 45%.

Most sims I've aged up early without them learning the basic toddler skills, or being on the honor roll got the Absent-Minded trait. Though, it's rather random.
I didn't know about the last bit, thanks. So I guess my sculptor Chris Steel is very lucky, indeed! :D
