At Thomas' request, I've moved this thread to the Swap Shop board.  I think it's better suited here.

Thanks for moving it, I hadn't seen it before.

I'm amazed at some of shapes created by walls and wonder where you all get the ideas from? I always 'see' boxes when I think of making rooms, so mine are rather boring. I love the way these look.

Lesley, have a look at real house plans for inspiration. There's a thread here about getting ideas for houses.
I'm working on a house now from real plans and it's coming along nicely, but it's for the latest contest, so my lips are sealed. Once the contest is over, I intend to put the shell up here because I think other people will be able to decorate and furnish it better than me.

Glonette Tower - my first attempt at a building shell for others to furnish.  Hope you like it.

Unfurnised cost: $25,733
Address: 1816 Ednamary way, Apaloosa plains
Lot: 30 x 30

A modern octagonal house with it's own tower, taking full advantage of the views from this hillside lot.

Front as seen from the street

Rear showing off the tower and veranda

Ground floor plan showing porch, hall, toilet and kitchen alcove area.

First floor plan with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and the tower area.

Top floor of the tower

View from the stairs as you enter the tower top floor

View from the front bedroom, through the communal area to the tower area

Ground floor view from the kitchen area, through to the veranda and tower area.

EDIT:  Forgot to add that only the ground floor has doors. The idea is to allow you to choose bedroom and bathroom doors to fit with the rooms as you decorate them. Equally importantly the internal walls are bare, allowing you to stamp your own personality on all rooms.

Extra edit:  Having furnished it I moved a couple in and found the railings around the top of the stairs cause some pathing errors. I'm afraid you'll have to remove them to play this house. Sorry.

I'd love to see pictures of it when you've finished it?  I went with pine and purple, they're my favorites so far.  :)

I'm partial to octagonal houses - I created one for my Starr Immortal Dynasty.

I love the idea of attaching the tower to the house - I agree with WickedSimmer - it would totally be perfect for an artist of some sort.

I got a request for a copy of my Darcy Ranch.  However, mine is full of custom content and I didn't fancy stripping it down.  So I built a replica which is fairly close to the original.  It is completely unfurnished and no CC.

Name: Ranch V2
Lot Size: 50 x 50 (my original is on a 64 x 64 but I wanted people to have more options)
Bedrooms: 3
Bathrooms 3 1/2
Cost when placed on lot: 50,307
Required expansions: Pets

I kept this very simple for speed of getting it up and since I won't be playing it. :)

The downstairs is very open plan.  Dinning room and Kitchen on the left, sunroom lower middle, family room with fireplace and livingroom upper right.

Master bedroom and bath in the lower right with a fireplace, an indoor balcony overlooking the livingroom and entryway and access to the rear deck.

Two other bedrooms with their own private baths on the left.  The lower bedroom also has access to the rear deck.

Here's a little something I was playing with today. I was looking for some house plans and I found this and decided to have a go at it. I currently have no use for it in game and really have no idea how to divide the rooms up or how to furnish or decorate it, so I thought I'd just post the shell. The original plans had an entry, kitchen, dining, living and small bathroom on the ground floor and a couple of bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs (I think it may have been a bit bigger than this)
This is on a long block and is set back from the road, with plenty of room for landscaping (something else I had no desire to do today)
I know the stairs are off center in the tower, but for some reason, when they were placed in the middle, my sim could not use them. The only explanation I could come up with is that the roof had something to do with it. Whatever the reason, I didn't want to fight with it, so I just placed them where they would work!

I like the lighthouse, Twinmum. I had a shot at at the floorplan, and this is what I got. It's got one bedroom and one and a half bathrooms.

It turned out to be pretty spacious, so you probably could fit in more than one bedroom with a different floorplan. I like the bottom floor, not so sure about upstairs. That's an arch leading into the bedroom, by the way.
