Happy Birthday to everyone! (Apparently I completely missed the update before this one.)

Good luck to Coriander in meeting a girl or two, and with the whole lighting himself on fire thing (daredevil makes a good trait for inventors as they quite enjoy being on fire).

Little is super cute! I also potty train my toddlers asap, one less thing my adult Sims have to do.

Party for Pepper's Boys

You know - the longer I'm alive the stranger the paparazzi get.  I realize that my family has been dealing with fame and celebrity status since the beginning.  Little Mint was trying to escape being put in his crib for nap time so he did what he always does.  He ran for the front porch.   He can't go down the stairs but he tries to make it difficult for his mother all the same.   It was such an occasion when the whole house felt shivers go down their spines at the scream that Mint let rip out of his tiny chest at the sight of this woman.  I had Shantel snap a shot of her to put in Mint's baby book.  I'm pretty sure I'll be able to use this later to keep the next generation in line.  Better behave or the paparazzi will get you.

I can't believe seven days have flown by already.  Both of my boys are growing up a little bit more.  That is if Coriander doesn't blow up the house with all of us in it.  Shantel is still a little upset over how the last party went with all the people traipsing through the house to get to the courtyard.  So after checking the family's bank account status, she had a builder come in to give us a party patio complete with pool and small kitchen like area for parties and barbecues.  I love it especially the pool.  We just got our first hot tub and now we have a pool.  More excuses for my wife to walk around half naked.  Thank you Watcher.

Tuesday night was slowly approaching and my wife who is ever careful about her vampire father started the party festivities when it was getting close to being safe for him to hang out.  We tried to time the birthday cake candle blowing event to coincide but that seems to never work out right in this household.   Coriander started his birthday magic before Mint and turned away from the camera as we tried to get a shot of both boys with the cakes.  Then the sparkles and the magic took over.

As we all handed out cake and chatted up, Dad started dancing.  Even when the paparazzi was literally right on top of him, he still didn't care.  He just kept on shaking what little grandma gave him.

Ricanote: And time for the fashion show.

I had way more fun with Mint's wardrobe than Coriander's.  His daily is from the Street Coutoure for kids Store set.  Coriander added Daredevil to his Eccentric, Friendly and Excitable.   Mint added Artistic to his two traits that i've forgotten Whoops.  I'll figure that out soon I promise!  I think the family is going to take a vacation soon to help with Mint's painting and Cori's inventing.   All of these screenshots were taken before the reinstall and now I'm just getting back into the game after taking the entire weekend to get it fixed.  Happy Simming!

Yes, he is! Indisputably a very cute toddler!

I'm very glad your reinstall went well and very happy to get a "Steel's-fix" again. I've enjoyed your dynasty from the beginning and I can't wait to see how the boys grow up! The parents must be really proud!!
If you thought you needed a Steels-fix - how do you think I felt!

Thanks lilygirl - Yeah I had already chosen daredevil in game before you mentioned that.

And a big thank you to everyone who's been reading my story!

Pepper-Mint Party

I realized after the boys party that we had reached the point where it seemed like every week was another birthday.   Mint's childhood was spent with him constantly wanting to paint.  He said he wanted to paint like his Uncle Dill and I so we encouraged him.  I managed to finish the last challenge associated with becoming a Master Painter.  Dad says that's good with my elder birthday coming up.

In fact, my birthday falls on the same day as Mint's so we'll be having a double party.  I almost feel bad for Mint.  I don't think he'll have a party where only  he gets to blow out candles until he's a young adult.   With four more days until our birthday, I finished up the last step to achieving my lifetime wish.  I reached level 10 of the logic bracket with the help of a little book.

Coriander seems to have settled into his teen years well.  He's not staying out after curfew, he does his homework and he helps out when he can in the house.  That doesn't mean he doesn't have fun though.  While waiting on Mike to finish his ice sculpture, he grabbed the goggles off the table and took a small adventure.

Of course, Cori also spends a large amount of time in front of his inventing table too.  Some of his experiments don't work quite as they thought he would.  I told him that he might want to think about cutting his hair but he told me that his haircut is the one of choice for Sunset Valley inventors.   He saw a picture of a Man with the same haircut on Valley Inventing Weekly.

Not everything in the house has been easy.  Right before the birthday party, Mike's girlfriend Bella Bachelor passed away.  He poured himself into his sculpting saying that he was determined to make Coriander's museum piece perfect.  I think Cori went along with it just to make Mike happy.

The dawn of our birthdays came quickly after that.  I enjoyed the set up we did last time so we decided to try that again.  I called a few girls over that I had met in the park to see if they would take a liking to Coriander.  And of course, some of my old friends were there.  I took a page from Dad's book and lit up my candles first.

Then while everyone was distracted Mint slid over to his cake.

And then all my beauty was gone and the birthday magic played tricks with my hair again.   You remember that paparazzi I was going to use to scare my grandchild.  Well that's her over my shoulder in the pink headband.  She married my distant cousin Damion Bunch, Mortimer's son.  They have a daughter named Betty.

As I cut my cake, Mint aged up into a fine young man.  He seemed to enjoy Leann Carlisle blowing that horn into his ear.  I may need to take him over to the hospital to check his hearing.

Everyone was getting settled in with their piece of cake when the air got cold.  One of my best friends Garth Novak started to shine and float.   I had felt this before.   I watched as Grim crashed our party to take away my friend.  Then as if he had somewhere else to be, he just disappeared.

Leighton Sekemeto seemed to think despite having just had plasma juice that it would be a good idea to have some plasma fruit, too.  I think seeing Grim and knowing that his generation is mostly gone has kept him on his toes.

As the party was winding down, I noticed a young lady I had never met before.  So I introduced myself and asked if she minded answering some questions.  Apparently this interesting redhead is the long lost daughter of Jared and Narcissa Vatos.  She's the half sister of my dear friend Mara Ursine.  Her mother and father had both died early on her life but it didn't show in how she had aged up.   Later, my wife had a word or two with me about the questioning.  I'm just trying to help Coriander find some nice new friends.  That's all.

Now it's time for my museum pieces to be finished and of course, I now need two new best friends.  Right after Grim came for Garth, he went to visit my boss Sandi French, too.

Ricanote:  Fashion shows at the bottom of the boys new wardrobes.   I just want to show a quick pic of Sage's paper reading spot.   This poor old guy works 3 days a week.  He basically tends his garden, reads the paper, cooks something for everyone to eat besides cake and then plays video games.  Feeling bad for him I made him a cute little spot out front.

Ok here is the boys outfits.  I finally gave in to Pepper's pink enjoyment.  Fixed his hair too.

Happy Birthday to the boys. Good luck getting Pepper's Immortal requirements finished.
I never thought to use the "interview" option to make friends per se *makes note to put Franklin to work even more*

I love what you did with Pepper and Mint's clothes - you really made the colors zing without being too feminine!  I can't wait to see who Cori is going to woo!

I had to laugh when I saw Cori standing next to that inventor's table, all scorched, in his undies! Maybe that made the invention go nuts and blow up in the first place :P

And congrats to the other boys! I hope there are enough prospective girlsfriends In Sunset Valley that don't mind a man in pink!

Thanks everyone.

Ok - I took the boys (I say that like it's not a house full of guys) but I took some of them to China for skilling up sculpting and other stuff.   When I came home and looked in my family inventory - All of my ice sims are now $0 sculpture bases!!!! What could I have done different?  I might post this somewhere other than my dynasty thread but hopefully someone who isn't eating anymore knows the answer.  :(   I will be making at least one update soon

I have had the same thing happen to me, Rica, if I leave an ice sculpture in my household inventory for even a couple of days without travelling.  I don't know if it is a bug or if that's just what happens, so I make sure to place or sell my ice sculptures ASAP.  This is especially important with potential museum pieces.  If you are trying for a brilliant or masterpiece sculpture but want to save the attempts in case you don't get one, be sure to set them out in the house or yard somewhere, otherwise you'll end up with a bunch of empty sculpture bases.

Back to China

Ricanote:  Doing the Rica note early,  Sorry for the lack of updates as I've been kinda tired and "Meh"  with a bug of some kind since the weekend.  Five of the Steel men went to China for some skilling opportunities.  When I got there, I realized that my first vacation house wasn't want I wanted it to be.  So after seeing the beautiful job that Katluvr did with hers on the swap shop, I got some ideas and made one of my own.   Everyone who has a dynasty vacation home that I've read so far has always done a beautiful job of decorating and building and I just don't have that ability but I tried with this house.  Here's some shots of my new China home away from home.

I finally decided it was time to travel again.  So I took my sons, Dill and Mike to the new vacation home that Shantel had commissioned long ago.  One of the things she did was make sure there was plenty to keep us busy.  The family's first dartboard is all the way in Shang Simla.   My first try at darts didn't go so well.  The first dart landed right into the new floor.  Good thing my wife wasn't there to see it.

Soon after we all explored and figured out who was sleeping where, we all went to the "hobby room."  You would never know this house was on vacation to look at it.

Sometime after my third painting I realized that we hadn't brought Dad for his cooking abilities.   So I did what any reasonable man without a single cooking skill would do.  I ordered pizza!  The delivery driver was kind of scary and we all decided we would find other means to feed ourselves.

After a day or two, I couldn't stand being in the house anymore and took an adventure from a local.  Mike and Dill were still just sculpting while Mint and Coriander worked on painting and inventing, respectively.

There was this odd paparazzi that was following me around the first tomb I went to.   She kept mopping up the puddles I was leaving behind after going into the dive wells.   I admit I kept using them just to see if she would keep mopping and she did!

"Dear Sculpting Diary,  I've been working on stuff to take home for the last hump of my career.  Today I started a stone sculpture with the idea of something new.   What I got was not what I was thinking it might have been.  Yes it was something new but it was also something very strange.  I named him Gnomeregan.  I wonder if I can make another one - Mike"

After completing the first tomb, I remembered how much fun it was to explore so I decided to try another one.  I miss having Shantel with me snapping shots but I knew this meant I had stories she wasn't there for, too.  There was one place that had an entire hallway of traps.  It took me a while to figure out how to disarm them all.  [Seriously - he walked over to the hallway and started thinking about disarming them while I checked on the boys back at the house.  I had to snap a shot because it was too funny]

"Dear Sculpting Diary,  my cousins Dill and Mint have been working very hard to master their sculpting skill as I have done.  Mint is still new to the skill but Dill has finally reached the final stage.   I can tell he may end up having difficulty though.  His first topiary penguin was accidentally beheaded.   Pepper says we're going to keep it to show Shantel and Sage back home. - Mike"

"Dear Sculpting Diary,  Dill and Mint have both decided to do something very odd.  This is something that I have never tried before and I'm not sure you should considering the struggle they both went through to get free.   Cori made sure to get snapshots to show Sage and possibly for blackmail later.  I can't wait to see how this turns out. - Mike"

Back to China - Part 2

When I realized that it looked like none of us were having a lot of fun, I decided that we should have a guy's day out.   I took everyone out to see the Academy and the Scholar's Garden.    Then we all came home to do what feels natural to us.   We played some video games.   After watching our parents do it every night, Dill, Mike and I decided that we should show the younger boys how it's done.

Eventually, we all went back to our hobbies.   For the two younger boys, they said this was the only reason they had wanted to come to China.  Coriander has spent a lot of time just making what he calls widgets.  Then while I was working on a painting that the landscape had inspired of me, I heard a noise I had never quite heard before.

It was soon followed by an exclamation of "Euronka!"  Which to me meant my son had made something interesting.  It turned out it was just a gnome.   A creepy inventor's gnome.

China is obviously the place to get gnomes.  Mint took it upon himself to make sure the laundry got done.  He doesn't have the neat trait like his mother but he certainly has picked it up from watching her.   As he pulled out a load, this creepy thing popped out.   I grabbed my work laptop and moogled it.   Apparently, it was a laundry gnome bear thing.  It's attracted to freshly laundered clothing.  I think it's a bit creepy and put it into the chest upstairs where we're keeping our relics.

Mike asked to do my sculpture again.   He says it helps build our friendship for him to portray me this way.  I didn't think we needed work on our friendship.   Although, He has been a bit grumpy since he was falsely accused of going through people's trash.   I think the grumpiness has made him a little extra creative though.   I posed doing the Albert Simstein pose and he didn't sculpt me that way at all!

"Dear Mentor,   I think someone has spiked my scrap.  Is that possible?   I finally finished the widget challenge you had given me when I reached my full skill so I started on the next one right away.   I was having difficulty with one particular hygienator.  The hammer just kept hitting my other thumb.   I've decided to stop using the hammer for a while until the swelling has gone down.

The reason I'm concerned though isn't my clumsiness with the hammer.   It's actually the fact that I started making a hygienator.  I know that's what I was working on when it began but what I managed to create was another gnome!  We really should investigate the circumstances.  This is my fifth one and we're only on day 18 out of the 21 we're taking on this vacation.   Maybe we should send the Professor to investigate China's scrap factory.    Your student - Coriander Steel"

"Dear Sculpting Diary,  I can't believe it.  Dill tried it again.   Every time he works on metal, he catches his trousers on fire.   Thank the Watcher that Shantel thought to put a shower so close to the 'hobby room.' I guess this is payback for when he laughed at me every time I did it when we were kids. - Mike"

You ever walk past someone and then have to do a double take to make sure you saw what you thought you saw?   Coriander invented a time machine just before the end of our trip.   He decided he wanted to visit the past and I said he was allowed just don't go changing the way things are done.   He came back through the time machine's doors with a look on his face that will make me giggle for the rest of his life.   I spent the last two days of our vacation trying to hide the fact that I couldn't look at him without laughing.

Back to China - Part 3

Last day of our vacation, I finished up an adventure.  I reached five star celebrity status while I was here and every time I talk to a local I have to wait for them to finish taking my photo before I can get anything done.

Dill, Mike and I also decided that it was time to have the talk with Coriander and Mint.  When it had been our time for the talk, Dad had sat me down by myself and then I made him promise to tell the other two later.  I figured since Mint was here with us there is no reason to not include him.  Dill and Mike were a big help in making sure that everything was covered.

Mint didn't comment much.  He just sat and listened.   Then when the conversation was over, he asked to be excused.   Apparently something in him had been inspired about hearing our family secret.  I checked on him later and I found him with his first masterpiece.

It's time to go home now though.  I want to hug my beautiful wife and tell her about the things I saw without her.

Ricanote: Sorry about the triple post.  I wanted to break up the amount of pictures and everything so it might be easier.   Last day of vacation, Pepper got falsely accused and it lowered his friendship levels with everyone so I had the sculptors do their magic while Pepper made a phone call for quick repair of one of his other best friends.  He now has the requirements to become immortal once they're home safe and sound.   All of the ice sculptures were lost due to travel but the relationships are still there and the skill so I guess it doesn't matter.  Here's a shot from the last afternoon for Pepper.

I think it's funny.  I did do a lot of skillup stuff.  Coriander finished his widget requirement for his inventing skill as well as getting it to 10.   Mint got to level 10 of painting and sculpting and is about halfway to the point of making non melting sculptures so he can take over for Mike and Mike can maybe take some time to find someone special.  No go on the Langerak woman though.  She went vamp!   Maybe we'll find someone else when I fire up the game again.

Also.  Thank you to everyone reading.  Your interest in the story is what makes sharing the story more fun.

I just love the Steel boys! So nice to see them go away together to do some proper male bonding over exotic women sculpting, painting and inventing!

The house looks really nice Rica, I think you did a great job on it!
