Number 51
Life with a teenager has us all on our toes these days. It seems that he has a sixth sense of knowing when our guard will be down long enough to sneak in a prank. It's hard to pull a prank and not get in trouble though. He is the only child actually living in the house. My beautiful wife has been given a plaque for achieving charisma greatness. It is the highest honor she could achieve.
Against her wishes, Yusun also threw a party for Betty. Although with all the attention she was receiving, I don't think Betty was too mad. We invited only family and a select group of others showed up anyway. Good thing the party crashers were all friends anyway. We all gathered around the cake as she blew out her candles for the last time. Part of me thinks she was nervous but when the sparkles were done with her, she hid it well. Grandpa Sage told her that she looked a lot like her Great Grandma Cornelia and that made her happy.
We had one guest that seemed to refuse to leave after the party was over. It was one of our newest paparazzi stalkers. A young vampire who didn't know how to pick up the plasma fruit from the outside counter. Unfortunately, he is no longer with us though. I picked up his grave to place in the graveyard later.
Over the weekend, Thyme and I spent some time together as I taught him to drive. He liked Uncle Dill's ride so we had it repainted his favorite color, sea foam. He learned the controls quickly and we rode around. There were a few moments where I had to laugh at his being overly cautious while we were in town.
My son has also been asking over several of his female classmates. The looks that Josephine Noland was giving him in the gym the other day makes me believe that they have chosen to go to the Prom with each other. That and the jumping and squealing and repeated "yes"s that she was giving as she hugged him right after.
Of course, I think Josephine may eventually become more than just his prom date. Dad caught them smooching for the first time not too long after she said yes to going to the prom.
Love wasn't just in the air for the young ones. Grandpa Sage and Dad spent some time reminiscing about their wives as they played video games. Betty reconnected with Quinn and they spent a couple of nights together. Betty's advanced age seems to have mellowed her out a bit.
I also got to spend some time with Yusun. We've been getting a lot of calls to dance at The Grind so we've spent several nights there. For us, it doesn't matter if other people are there or not. We just enjoy spending time together. Now that I'm officially immortal, it feels like there is a clock that we never noticed before. At least for me, Yusun says I'm imagining things. Dad says Yusun reminds him a lot of Mom.
Prom was in the middle of the week. Josephine came to the house to meet with Thyme and the two of them left in a white limousine. That night my son came home with a steady girlfriend and a crown. Apparently, the two of them had a great time. We put his crown and prom picture in his museum room for him.
In other random news, I found something on my latest travels to the past. It's a funny looking little thing but it's become a part of the family like the other gnomes. I regularly find him worshiping at one of the sculptures or sleeping in front of the tv. We let Thyme name him and that was probably a mistake as he chose to name him Cro.
Ricanote: I know it's been a long time since my last update. I've been doing challenges and just dealing with life and weather and everything else. It doesn't help that I've been having issues with the file lately. I'm hoping to get more play time in soon and then maybe we can more updates! Yay!
