Shantel goes to Egypt
Just once I thought this family story could use a female perspective. If the watcher is kind, she'll give this family another one in the future but so far it's all been men. For those that may not have figured this out yet. My name is Shantel Steel. I am the wife of Pepper and mother of Coriander and Mint. In his efforts to make sure I've seen the world over, my husband arranged for us to go on yet another adventure overseas. This time our destination was Al Simhara, Egypt, home of photography, the pyramids and the Sphinx. Instead of our customary transportation of style and grace, Pepper had his car shipped to Egypt with us. I'm not sure I approved of this course of action but I couldn't exactly tell him no either.
Did I want to see the sights of Egypt or did I want to go explore the tombs of this new place? We opted for both. We would take on some local projects to raise up Pepper's visa level and whatever we didn't get to see through them, we were going to make sure to visit before our nine days was up. Within seconds of that decision having been made, Pepper received a call from a MorduCorp agent needing help. Careless woman lost some papers in a tomb so we had to go find them. We found a few valuables along the way and after we the tomb was fully explored. Pepper got visa level 1. (finally managed a shot of visa level 1!!)
The same woman had more work for my husband so we headed to the market where he could talk to some locals. That's where I found this neat little basket that I was told had a snake in it. I never did find the snake though. After he made some friends, Pepper said it was time to visit one of the pyramids for some flame fruit.
Every time we travel it's like being on a honeymoon. Although I have to admit there are some things that happen while we're traveling that I would expect to happen while on a honeymoon. Like Pepper getting caught in a fire trap and having to run to the nearest divewell.
This trip actually marked a different kind of first for Pepper and myself. We ran into our first mummy. I was taking his picture when he tackled me. Despite being maxed in athletics and having a black belt, I still lost the fight. Luckily for me, most of the damage was to my pride after I passed out.
After we escaped the pyramid, Pepper decided we'd head back to the market to enjoy some falafel and get in touch with his contact. His contact happened to be at the market, so after supper we split up briefly so he could handle business. Pepper's contact was delighted with the flame fruit and approved him for a visa level 2. I decided to try my hand at snake charming once again. There was actually a snake in there this time but I don't think it was very charmed by my playing.
The woman that we had been spending so much time with actually turned out to be a disgruntled employee of MorduCorp. Several other employees and herself were all trying to stop what MorduCorp was doing to their heritage. They asked for our help, so Pepper and I accepted and worked together to break into MorduCorp's local headquarters. Once we found it, Pepper used all his police training to hack into the main computer and get the files we needed.
We were already involved so we kept working with the woman to complete her mission. She needed us to trek to a remote pyramid and find a new relic before someone else did. There were places in the sand that we couldn't use the police car or the limos and we had to run. I would have remembered my tennis shoes if Pepper had warned me.
The newest tomb we were exploring was beautiful and there were some parts where I couldn't tell if everything was overgrown or if we needed a new landscaper.
We were so close to the end of our trip and to Pepper getting his third Visa level that we slowed down a little bit. My darling husband even grabbed me for a "refreshing" moment in one of the sarcophagi we found.
We ended up running into yet another mummy in this pyramid, too. This one was more than happy to take a mummy snack out of Pepper's pocket. And while the mummy was eating, Pepper checked out the mummy's bed to see if had anything stashed inside. The mummy snack apparently makes mummies tired so he didn't seem to happy to have to wait for Pepper so he could nap.
We finally reached the final room to find the relic of life. We brought it back to the relic merchant as per our instructions. That's where Pepper got approved for his level 3 Visa.
It didn't take very long for it to become official that we owned at least one vacation home in every country. I was proud of my husband. We chose a small home for this country. The giant places didn't appeal to me but maybe they will to a future generation.
There wasn't much I was willing to change about the place immediately. I just added two small things to the courtyard that I thought it needed. Pepper and I tried out one of them to make sure they were comfortable before heading home.
As we waited for the limo to pick us up to go to the airport, Pepper put together some items to take on the plane. Just a few things that we were able to piece together.
Ricanote: I haven't really been feeling the Steel family. Mostly because Artie's was a lot more fun at the moment. Actually, there was a discussion of friends on the Dynasty rules thread and I thought for a moment that the Steels were done for because I had confused a rule. Metro said that I hadn't actually messed up and I still wasn't sure how I felt about that. However, the more I thought about giving up on them, the more I realized I didn't want to. So they're back. With Generations coming out next Tuesday and it being a four day holiday for my husband this weekend, I'm still going to be slow on the updates but hopefully soon I'll get back into the swing of things. It really doesn't help that at this point we're waiting for someone to die so generation 4 can be brought in.
Cheers and Happy Simming!
