Daily routine, Interrupted
After nine whirlwind days in France, it was good to come home and catch up with the family. Mike has been busy teaching his toddlers to do basic life things. I think he enjoys every second. In fact, I'm told he's rarely home anymore. Shanika snapped some shots of him playing with the boys and emailed them to me. I'm glad my cousin is so happy. After all this time, he really does deserve it.
Unfortunately for Mike, one of his triplets seems to have a disorder of some kind. The youngest of the triplets was very small when he came out and now it seems as if he'll never grow up. Shanika's family as well as Mike try to do everything they can for Quinn but nothing seems to make him happy. The doctors also can't figure out why he's not growing. They want to try some experimental hormone treatments but Shanika has been hesitant. I don't blame her really. I can't imagine having a child stuck at that stage of life and never able to get happy.
Coriander is making a mess of the yard on purpose apparently. He took everything that was broken out of family storage as well as everything that had been picked up from the junkyard. It's in the back of the lot but I think even the gnomes are embarrassed.
Oh one more thing before I forget to mention it. Mike's son Stefan is a dead ringer for him. In fact, if it wasn't for Shanika's hair. I'm fairly certain Stefan would look like Christopher as well.
My distant cousin Damion Welsh has always been a friend of the family. He is the son of my cousin Mortimer through my mother's side. He actually met his wife Patricia at a family birthday party a while back. She was the one I had called the scary paparazzi. Now they have two beautiful girls. The oldest, Betty, look a lot like her grandfather Morty. Priscilla Welsh on the other hand seems to take after her mother. Shantel has been friends with them for ages so she is invited to all of their house parties. She's been watching the girls grow up now with interest.
I realize that most of this update as been about every one else but my life has reached a sort of spot where I expect it to be. I go to work four days of the week. I do some painting when I feel the need and I hang with the boys of the house when we all have time. My nights are filled with my loving wife when she gets home from work. I did do something not the usual recently though. I went into the basement with all the fragments that Shantel and I had been collecting from our adventures. I was able to put together 2 dive wells, 2 plain sarcophagi and 2 pushable statues. Not sure what to do with them yet but they've been put together.
Dad has been busy with old friends. Tamara Donner has been in the political office since Christopher first came to Sunset Valley. After several town meetings, council meetings, and rallies, Sunset Valley's local government decided to allow one of the developers to finally build some of the things they've wanted to bring for quite some time now. The city is giving these developers rights to only build a few and if time goes on and things go well without problems, they said they would think about allowing them to build a few more things. So now our humble little town has two dance clubs and a dive bar. The developers put The Grind over by Mom's old house. Near the graveyard they put in Waylon's Haunt and the Aquarius.
Ever have one of those days where it just seems like you can't get to work no matter how hard you try? Shantel had one of those days recently. Four vampires and a Simbot were all sitting outside the stadium and with all the commotion they caused between being normal and passing out, she was late to work by two hours! She even left the house as soon as the carpool arrived.
The second night The Grind was open, we voluntold Coriander that it was his sacred duty as the heir to go forth and seek out knowledge of the new clubs. Especially since the family agent had booked most of the house to go dancing sometime soon. On his last night before his work started, he went to check it out. Other than the fact that no one was really there, he seemed to have a blast.
So the next night, while Coriander had to work some of the rest of us went to visit the Grind. Three elders and a young adult get out of a car in front of the place and the only one having a good time seemed to be Mint. The rest of us weren't certain about the lighting.
It didn't take long for all of us to get the idea though. It was a dance club. That meant we were supposed to spend all night just dancing. I can handle that. I think everyone else could too.
Mint ended up having one too many drinks though. The juice went straight to his head and he started dancing on one of the tables. Shantel cheered him on before going back to her own dancing. Well I guess if she's ok with it, then I guess I am too. Sorta.
Ricanote: Thank you Gogo, Phyre and lilygirl. Every now and again I can get the adventure board to work if I go through and click every opportunity section of the traveling and at home opportunity windows. It's something I saw on a website somewhere and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It's just a hateful bug.
Sorry this has been a slow update. I just can't help but feel like I'm waiting for someone to die in this house which technically I am but it's not a happy feeling. Plus there are challenges out there to try and of course, I'm always entertained by Artie and his offspring. I have one more trip planned soon for Shantel and Pepper. They haven't been to Egypt yet and I'm hoping that she lives long enough to see her third vacation home. Actually, I know she will. I need to stop thinking negative! heh
