Kidnapping babies/toddlers glitch
« on: March 31, 2011, 03:50:44 PM »
I know babies and toddlers aren't technically "kidnapped" but I actually got the glitch when playing with the Sekemono family in one of my more recent games. The sink had a broken faucet and after Clark Sauser fixed the leaking faucet, he took off with Sam, and Sam's picture disappeared. I know Sam wasn't really kidnapped, but, I thought they fixed the problem with the later patches. Has anyone else gotten the "kidnapping" glitch? Davy took off with my children twice in the earlier patches. But did anyone else have this problem ever? And also, is it usually NPC's that are wickedly glitchy like that?

EDIT: I noticed Clark Saucer and Davy Linell are the most frequent "kidnappers" the first time, I was unaware of this glitch, though my sim baby was retrieved in the picture a few sim hours later, so I called the police, but got the little message from the upper right hand corner: "You shouldn't be playing with the phone like that. Were going to have to fine you §500."

I've never seen, nor have I even heard of this glitch until you mentioned it.  Most of what I've seen on it is 2 years old, but it seems that your only real option is to try to track them down and re-add the baby to the family with the testingcheatsenabled cheat.

Really? I have heard several complaints on EA's official TS3 Forums, as well as their facebook page. Someone complained about Davy Linell stealing Cornela and Gunther Goth's toddler (after Mort of course) once.

EA should really look into it. But yes, where the guest or NPC will leave with the child in their arms, and then the baby's picture will disappear for about a couple hours? That's been happening with Justine and Marty's baby boy (the default son) and Leighton's toddler Sam.

You say that it disappears for a couple of hours...am I to assume that it eventually returns?  If so, then really it would be easy enough to simply center the camera on the child and head out there with an adult to get him.

@jeanamariex3:

How long has it been since the last time a babysitter or maid "kidnapped" you toddler and left the lot with him/her?  I've never heard of this happening, but even the Sims 3 official forum says that it was fixed in the first patch, which was almost two years ago.  If this isn't something current and ongoing, there's no need to have a topic about it.

It was actually about a week ago. Really? You've never heard this? I am quite surprised.

Jeanmarie, are you patched up to a recent patch? Maybe that's the case.

I haven't had this problem since the base game first came out. My babysitters have taken to just holding my children all day and not feeding or playing with them instead.
