I am doing this quest with the Jacoban Priest and the Spy, and my spy is supposed to "Acquire Watcher's Blade."  But I can't figure out how to do that.  She has tried to buy one at the Village Shop, the Merchant's Stall, the Blacksmith Stall, and the Blacksmith herself.  How is she supposed to get this item?

Is it maybe a special weapon the Smith makes? See if there are crafting ingredients.

According to the Prima Guide, the Watcher's Blade requires 2 Consecrated Well Water, 2 Phosphorous, Adamantle, and 7 Ferrous.  The Blacksmith doesn't have the Blade in stock, and neither of the heroes in this quest has the ability to collect the minerals.  This quest involves Yacothia, and according to the Prima Guide, the Watcher's Blade is available in Yacothia.  If the Guide is correct and if I understand the table right, the spy is supposed to trade a prisoner for the blade.  But I have no idea how she's supposed to acquire a prisoner.  There are no prisoners in the stocks, and I can't find any interaction that would allow her to acquire a prisoner.

It is something that a blacksmith can make once they've learned how to do it however, since i don't think you can use your blacksmith on that quest i would mouse over the quest box and see if it gives any hints as to where to get it like a location.  I can't remember what I had to do for this quest and it was only yesterday!  I think it took a while for me too but I got it from the "quest hints".  Try clicking the forest sign maybe?  I used my knight instead of my spy and i remember the priest giving my knight the sword I would need if I concentrate hard enough in the dayquil fog.

There is a book that tells the blacksmith how to forge the blade. If you buy the book and drop it onto the blacksmith - will this work? Though this would also depend on the blacksmith's level maybe - best save your game before you try that approach because I think it highly likely to not work.

I've been trying everything I can think of with no success.  I had her sail to Yacothia, which did nothing but waste a little time.  There are no unusual interactions on the forest sign or anyplace else I can find.  The in-game information confirms that prisoners can be traded for the Watcher's Blade in Yacothia, but that doesn't help as I don't have a prisoner and have no idea how to get one.  I had the Jacoban Priest give the spy the disguise from the forest vault, but that didn't solve the Watcher's Blade issue either.  I suppose I could try to find the book in the village shop, but I agree with HtFde - I doubt that it would work, since I have no way of getting the blacksmith to read it.  This blacksmith is quite low level, so I don't even know if she is capable of making the Watcher's Blade.  I just don't know what else to try.

Go to kingdom mode and check out the other territories.  One of them will trade a something for a prisoner; However, I didn't know you could trade without being a merchant?  how does that work?

Yes!  Tredony will give me a prisoner in return for a sturdy lute, which I'm sure I can get at the Village Shop.  Can we trade without being a merchant?  Dunno, but I'm going to try.  I'll let you know how it goes.  Thanks for the help.

Edit:  Well, I just spent most of my spy's money on a sturdy lute, but I sure don't see any way to use it.  Clicking on the boat gives the options to patrol or sail to Yacothia.  No option to put anything in the hold or to go to Tredony to get the prisoner.  Now my poor spy is not only stumped but broke as well.

There has to be a way to get the blade in order to complete the quest.  I just can't think of who or what.  I mean did you ask the priest?  Maybe you can pull one out of the well lol

It's actually the other way around, according to the Territory Map.  You send a prisoner to Tredony and get a Sturdy Lute in return.

Jonna, you're right - I was so excited at maybe finding a solution that I read it wrong and saw what I wanted to see.  Oh well, about all I can say for this quest is that my spy has a nice lute to play.

Found the blade.  It's available in the village shoppe for $550.  At least, it is in my game.  There are two, actually, if you'd like me to get an extra one for you.  Maybe your shoppe is sold out.  I'd keep looking for it there.

Yes, buy it and send it to me!  I have a Sturdy Lute you can have in exchange.     Well, thanks very much, Jonna.  You've given me hope that maybe I won't have to quit this quest after all.
