Legendary Traits
« on: March 28, 2011, 10:42:51 PM »
When you complete one of the quests that allows you to choose a legendary trait, you get to choose between 3 possible legendary traits.  Does anyone know if the traits offered are random, or do they somehow relate to the traits your sim already has?

I'm also wondering what peoples' experience has been with legendary traits.  I haven't had very many of them, but my first merchant acquired the Natural Leader trait and now is the king in my new kingdom.  With Natural Leader and the two traits I initially gave him (Friendly and Jokester) he makes a fantastic king.  When he does a quest with any other sim, the other sim gets a +10 Emboldened focus buff.

I've done two quests that are supposed to give a legendary trait but I didn't get one. I finished the quest with platinum and the Prima guide didn't say anything about doing anything different so I'm not sure what happened. Is it hit or miss or did I do something wrong?

Good question, Missa.  I would have thought that finishing at the platinum level would automatically give you the option to choose the legendary trait.  Maybe someone else will have an idea about this.

I'm 1 for 2 for Legendary Trait acquisition. No idea why the second didn't work but there it is (or isn't I guess). :P

At the end of the fountain quest I know it gives you two choices I think if you choose wrong you don't overcome your fatal flaw.  The answers were pretty simple if you think about their fatal flaw though.

I've done it twice and got legendary traits both times.

with Licentious I waso ffered Patience, strong constitution, and Famous

With Uncouth I got I think 2 of the above and Industrious

Licentious Bard became Famous Baard

Uncouth Blacksmith became Industrious blacksmith I love it!

So far, I think it's a random selection from the available list of Legendary Traits. I didn't see any connection between the LTs offered and my Sim's traits. If this is the case, I guess you've got about a 33% chance of getting the exact LT you want out of the selection of 10. The only one I'm really interested in right now is Industrious.

Most of the quests that offer legendary traits only give you the legendary trait option if you meet certain criteria.  For the Fountain of Legend quest you have to actually answer the riddle correctly.  As soon as I go into the forest I tend to save my game and then if I "choose poorly". I tend to restart and choose the other answer which gives you the Legendary Trait.  I've also been known to answer and save so I can get the LT that I want.

For the Philosopher's Stone mage LT quest - I've noticed no chain of events that wont give you the LT.

For the Seven Mechanical Arts smithy LT quest - you have to choose the seal not the hammer in order to get the LT.

And these are the only three quests out of all the ones I've done that actually give you one.  I heard somewhere that another one was supposed to offer the chance but I have yet to find it.

Also - The wise LT actually gives you extra xp while doing everything.   Guild Connections basically means you have access to every scrap of clothing in CAS.  Natural Leader is a boost to other heroes during a multiple hero quest.   Famous works a lot like the Attractive LTR from TS3.  Patient adds about 12 hrs to your responsibilities.  Strong Constitution just means you wont get drunk or nauseous ever again.  Herculean (my favorite) means you rarely ever lose a fight and you can give heroic speeches to others for a quick relationship burst.

My wizard with a FF of Fool got offered a LT of Wise, which I accepted.  I don't recall the other 2 choices.

My knight with a FF of Compulsive Gambler got offered a LT of Herculean.  Again, I didn't look past that.

My smith with a FF of Bloodthirsty ended up getting the Guild Connections LT (I think he was offered Patient and I don't recall the third one, but if it was Industrious I'm kicking myself!).

My suspicion is that the choices of LT are not completely random.  I think the hero's profession may play a role in what LTs are offered, since in 2 of 3 cases there was a very clear front-runner among my choices for LT.  With my smith I was blinded by the chance to have more shinies for his home...stupid, stupid Watcher!  This is just speculation on my part based on a sample of 3, so take it for what it's worth.

I agree katluvr and by the way, the third choice was industrious if I remember correctly.  My Merchant got Guild Connections and another choice for her was Patient.

The three legendary traits offered are completely random... I completed one of the quests that can change a fatal flaw to LT, and got presented 3 choices, then my game crashed... luckily I had saved just before but when I went to finish and pick my LT again not one of the 3 were the same as the previous time.

I've only picked up two LT's.  Herculean and Famous.  I'm pretty sure Famous works like the LTW where relationships never decay, at least that's what I'm hoping!

My experience with legendary traits hasnt been productive. So far Ive been offered 3 indetical(Famous, Seductive and Satiated) for 2 heroes with completely different trait sets with their FFs being drunkard and bloodthirsty as I recall. On the other hand I think there might be a connection between hero professions and legendary traits, but thats me guessing again, since I havent obtained that many of them.

I have experience with two legendary traits myself.

Patient - Allows your hero almost twice the allowed time to complete daily responsibilities.

Wise - Allows the hero to get rid of their only flaw. Wise heroes often have the opportunity to pass on wisdom to other sims. This helps greatly improve social standing with other sims.

Those are the two I've found so far.

For Famous, you get a small boost to your relationship when talking to a new sim (Though not enough to be 'Friend' as the game suggests), and apparently your relationship with sims goes up faster and down slower, though I haven't really paid enough attention to my friendships to confirm it. It's also free to Brew drinks.
