So far I like the Spy and Bard the best.  They seem to be the most unique ones.   I do like the wizard and doctor too.  But I can't stand the merchant, she just annoys me.

Interesting. I know Carl does not like the Merchant either. After just completing the Merchant Guide article I'm curious as to your reasons. I think trait selection is key with that Hero, more so than other Heroes. I got it right and had a pretty easy time, but the wrong traits or Fatal Flaw could result in a nightmare.

I would have to say I like all the heroes in the game but my two most favorite heros would have to be the Monarch and the spy since the monarch is the ruler of the land and the spy is like a medieval secert agent.

I agree, there is so much you can do as a Monarch. It could just be the 'Send to the Pit' interaction that's talking but you know, a Monarchs gotta do what a Monarchs gotta do, might as well have fun on the way.  ;)

Since Metro says the Merchant is good I will have to try them out.  ;)

I think you are entirely right in it being how you build the merchant.  My first merchant was a nightmare although I had used Greedy and Haggler as her characteristics with her FF being hubris.  She was such a snotty snob!  Of course, I also didn't know how very important it was for her to buy and sell.  When I was finally done with her, and she had gotten rid of the FF, she was quite rich, (belatedly so), and wound up being the one to start a new kingdom.

The next time around I chose Friendly and Eloquent for her characteristics and Cowardly for the FF.  So far she is doing ok, though I'm not any fonder of her than I was of the first one.  She leveled up quite fast thanks to leaping into the beast pit and has acquired a goodly sum of money from her sales.  I actually would have liked to spend more time with this one but rather rushed the Quest a bit having been prejudiced about merchants.

My least favorite is my current knight.  Dear gussie how on earth did I ever create such a wuss?  He simply fails at everything.  I really didn't recognize him as one of mine so it may be I chose to try a computer generated one.  Big mistake if that was the case!
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

So far my favorites are a lvl 10 spy-master, with Doomsword. He just cant be beaten. Also love the spies because they can hunt/patrol, so alot more chances for random events and therefore mystical metal fragments.
And second favorite is blacksmith, because,well, (s)hes the only one who can fashion the metal fragments.

agree 100% I was going to say the same, spy then blacksmith.  I like the spy for your reasons and because he can get money ALL the time very easily.  What I do is buy things with that money and transfer it to my other heros.  And the blacksmith is just fun to me, don't know why, but I enjoy making stuff with him.

I think I like all our Heroes ... but then we always create them ourselves, and they're nearly all modelled on [British] TV comedy characters including an attempt to re-create the character's persona.

King = Edmund Blackadder
Knight = George, from Blackadder
Merchant = Arkwright, from Open All Hours
Physician = Nurse Gladys, ditto
Blacksmith = Trigger, from Only Fools and Horses

... that sort of thing.  8)

Having played all the classes, I'd say my favourite is my Wizard. Ophelia is Evil. Scholarly and a Misanthrope and I've had her as my Wizard in 5 different kingdoms. It's just so much fun setting people on fire. I also really like that I can mine and pick herbs with her. It's really useful that I don't have to go home to sleep.

I also like the Blacksmith (for the mining and crafting) and the Spy (for stealing).

My last favourite is the Merchant, followed by the Bard. I hate having to trade via boat. I tried to trade 5 at a time but trading is part of the responsibility, so it didn't tick off when I already had the gems in my inventory. Selling to people at low levels is a pain too. With the Bard I found that having to name so many poems got really tedious.

I agree.  That's why I stopped trying to come up for creative names and just named them after the themes in them, for example:  Art, Food.  Or one could just number them as I tend to do with books when I'm playing a writer in Sims 3.  I like listening to the lute music, so I rather enjoy the bard.  And living in the tavern does have its advantages when you're playing a drunkard!   ;D

Personally, The Peterean Priest.
I got mine to level 10... and the game crashed, right before I was going to save.
Still, she ended up at level 6, and was the inspiration for my official dynasty.

I think it's the evangelism that puts it over the top - It's so easy to gain popularity. And praying/Watcher's Faith (or whatever it's called) gives a quick buff.

With the Bard I found that having to name so many poems got really tedious.
I haven't played a bard yet, but that nearly puts me off. I usually name things the first time that comes to my head. My most profitable book in Write Here Write Now was "Metro's Knock Knock's". And I think it was a best-seller!!

My favourite is my wizard, Odilia. She achieved the legendary trait of patience and boy does she need it with what I've put her through! My least favourite? The merchant, mainly because it's such a faff getting his responsibilities done.

its a split between the blacksmith and the bard

the blacksmith simply do to them being the cornerstone of your kingdom really . with a high level smith your spy knight and monarch are all virtually undefeatable do to them  having super weapons .the blacksmith makes a great tandem  with the merchant  . Pretty much the Black smith is great for starting up anyone . hell even if they dont use armor drop a few suits  on em to sell for a couple k later ( ie the bard to buy the best lute if they dont have it )

I like the bard just because its a fun class period and they did a good job with the music too

Oh, this is a hard choice. I'll always love my monarch, but he isn't my favorite. I really liked my bard at first because of his whole sexy voice/tragic romance/cursed thing, but then I overplayed him so now he bores me a little. Right now my favorite so far is my spy. Hence my username.

I don't really have one favorite, but I like any of the ones that involve collecting things (physician, wizard, etc). Plus, I like giving them the drunkard flaw, so all that bloodmoss comes in handy.

As far as least favorite, I'll add my vote to those who dislike the merchant. I find all the trading and stocking and price-checking and schmoozing to be little more than tedious busy work. I try to avoid quests that involve the merchant.

I also learned my lesson about not letting the game premake a hero for you with my first merchant--who wound up with the misanthrope trait. I got so tired of constantly cancelling his actions just as he was about to call someone a lack-witted cur that I wound up sending him to the pit. And I had to do it twice, because the first time he just crawled right back out!
