How to marry?
« on: March 27, 2011, 05:17:14 PM »
I've married a sim once before but it was a private wedding. When I tried to marry a different sim, there was no private marriage option, and when I used the "throw party here" action with my cell phone it didn't say it could be a wedding party.
(The sim I wanted to marry is dead now, lol, but I still want to know how to do it.)

Was your sim engaged to the sim in question? That is, had they done the "propose marriage" option?

The option for a wedding party shows up in a drop down menu in the party planning interface.

You use your cell phone to "Throw Party At," and after you select the location, it opens up an interface.  You use this interface to set the time of the party, the dress code, and what type of party it is.  If the sim calling for the party is engaged, the option for a wedding party will be listed.

Are you sure you get to choose the type of party when it's at a location?  I thought I had tried it, but destination parties couldn't be any kind of special party.  Those could only be at home.

I designated a beach as a wedding party a few days ago. It seemed to work fine.

Thanks, Pally.  I wonder if it's something that has been changed since the game came out.  Or maybe I was just wrong.  ;D

You can, so long as the sim making the reservations is the one that is getting married.  Another family member can't do it for them.  I've done this at least twice.  First time was with Veronika Beltane, and she got married at the Plasma 501 (yeah I know...very romantic getting married at a bar lol), and more recently, my 2nd generation immortal got married at Founder's Beach.  In my Dynasty, I first tried to have the bride's mother set up the party while her daughter was eating breakfast, but she didn't have the option.

I don't know how it works for birthday parties, if that is even possible (I've never tried)...but I'm sure that there must be some way to do that, too.

When I was playing the Smith Dynasty the founder,Hebe, always threw the parties and the option for wedding always came up in the drop down menu.  Then when I played the Khalid Dynasty it had to be the person getting married who threw the party.
The only difference that I could see is that the Smith weddings were all held at home and the Khalids were held at another location.

In my Dreamweaver Immortal Dynasty, I once had someone other than the bride arrange the wedding party (at home).  The guests left upset because the one who arranged the party didn't get married.  I didn't remember that being an issue before, but it is now.  After that, I made sure that the person getting married arranged the wedding party.

That happened to me when playing the Khalids. So it looks as if it is a recent issue.
