Sometimes I take things that the sims say and turn them into a name.  You know, make it authentic.  I've had a sim named Wagidoo.  I can't remember any of my others right now but I had a Legacy for a while where I gave each member a more "traditional" Simlish name.

Sometimes I take things that the sims say and turn them into a name.

That hilarious. Remember what they said in Sims 1 when they were really stinky? They'd wave their hands around and actually face you. That was funny. And they'd say "Ma-shoot-o."

I once saw the guy and girl who did a lot of the original simlish in the first game -- actual videos of them in the studio. They kept trying to top each other and make each other laugh. Really funny stuff.

Hahaha! That's awesome!

How about 'Haza Snax'?  I'm sure I heard one of my sims use it on the phone, and it looks kind of Egyptian to me.

OK igzigpuff, I'll give you that one! It's a word, but as Metro so straightforwardly explained, it would be a very weird sentence in that case! ::)

:D...didn't say it made sense.  8)  So we are like Sims sometimes...wild and crazy. XD

First let me say I agree! It is so hard for me to name my Sims! This is what I have done so far... I created a married couple and I named the guy Josh from the movie Clueless. I named the girl Brittany after the late Brittany Murphy whom I really like a lot! Clueless was the first movie I saw Brittany Murphy in. Josh and Brittany have two kids. Their first is a son I named Max because I have a tradition on the Sims. Since the first Sim game I have always named the first boy of the game Max. The second child they had was a girl. She has beautiful red hair and green eyes just like my beautiful Mom. So, I named her Mary after my Mom. So there you have it. Josh, Brittany, Max, and Mary. I know that is not very many, but soon Max will be married and having kids that I will have to name. Then Mary will do the same. The best advice I can give is to get a baby name book. I try to keep one on my desk so that when I have a baby it is there to help. I know it might be a bit extreme because the book cost about $4, but it is totally worth it! You could also look online. There are millions of names to be found online! I hope that helps.

My boy is called Callum and the girls are called Poppy, Rosie, Lilly, Daisy, Jade, Jasmine. If my Sim has any more girls, it'll be more flower names.

I probably shouldn't admit this, but Clueless is in my top 5 movies ever list.

You can name your sims somehow after what you are wanting to do with them.
My first painting sim (female) I've called Dalía. Because Dali is one of my two favorite painters (Escher is the other), and my sim was female (she past away now) so Dalía was the name for her.

Nice.  :D

The source of inspiration for my own Sim names runs the gamut—real life people (Stevie Wonder, Rod Blagojevich), fantasy/mythical characters (Zeus and Hera). Then, sometimes I'll just reference the name with some goal I have or some connection with a story/walkthrough (Jack and Bunny Rabbit; Henry and Henrietta Housedoctor will be my couple for the upcoming House Hunters challenge).

The name Henry makes me think of the vacuum cleaners :)

I love writing so I have a list of names in a book that I pick and choose my Sims names from. I was going to try doing a family with tree and flower themed names, but I can't think of many manly names on that subject!

I think tree names are manly enough.  You could let all the boys be trees and all the girls be flowers.  Birch and Oak sound manly to me.  :)

So do Fir and Rowan (esp for an artistic male Sim, Rowan seems very nice). I may make a list of tree/flower names and when Ambitions is released maybe I'll make that family then.
