I wonder if this is can. My computer doesn't have an internet connection. He has a networkcard but the thing lacks to connect. My laptop on the other hand has a good internet connection, even on the hights floor here. But the thing is, the sims is installed on my pc, I work on this forum or thesims3.com on my laptop. And if I want to download anything I either have bought or got as a gift on that site I click on it and get a message that the page does not exist.
So, is that because the sims is not installed on that laptop? I guess it is, but I want to be sure.

If you don't have Sims 3 installed on your laptop, why do you want your Store items downloaded to it?  I'm pretty sure the game has to be installed on the computer you're trying to download to.  Otherwise, where would it go?  It has to go into your Sims 3 files and into the launcher.

So I especially tested this on my non-Sims PC and the results were disappointing. It turns out that you can't download items from the Store if Sims 3 is not installed. It simply requires the Launcher, which can't exist without Sims 3 installed. On my laptop (where Sims 3 is installed), when I click 'download' it is showing me a pop-up for me to allow opening the Launcher. The PC (where Sims 3 is not installed) isn't showing me anything, even if I wait for absurdly long time (well, my internet is slow, but not that slow). Answer is, that you can't download Sims 3 Store items to a computer which doesn't have Sims 3 installed, unfortunately.

Because I don't have internet on my pc and that is where my game is installed. I was expacting the laptop to message me about that it didn't recognize the file and don't know with what program I want to open it but that didn't happen.
I have no internet on my pc.

Thanks TheChronicR! It is disapointing indeed, but I asume it has to do with some security thingies.

You're welcome, Leto. I still think it's only because the application through which the download would happen (in this case the launcher) isn't existent on your laptop.

That's most likely the reason, yes.  Since your games are associated with your Sims Store account, it would prevent one person from logging into another person's account in order to download items they haven't bought.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't there an option to Save the File instead of download to the Launcher? The site is down for me but I thought there was in small lettering under the big button? Maybe that would work?

Samoht, if there is I haven't come across it. You need the launcher to be up and connected to the internet actually. I experimented a lot with this when the DVD drive on my old Macbook Pro played out.

I think there was an option 'Save to file', I remember it too. But it must have been removed some time ago because I can't find it anymore.

I just found it in the Exchange section so they must have either taken it out or never put it in the Store because they were worried people would get hold of the files or something and then sell them on.
