I started a legacy with a Kleptomaniac Sim. The easy way to make about 10,000 is steal the Langraab's car and sell it. Then go get the Alto's car, which is worth a lot more than the Landgraab's. The Alto's office curtain made a nice 1000 too. And no, the Sim did not want the laptop. It would be cool if your kleptos were able to guess the price of things.

In most of my games, I find dozens of gems around the Landgraab house and Alto house. I was just wondering, does this happen to anyone else?

Yes, I've seen gems around the high-$ residences.  However, I've noticed there are better places to more consistently find more valuable gems.  When I send a Sim out collecting, I only pick up yellow sapphire or higher grade gems.  You can generally tell by looking at the color of the object on the ground - if it's light blue, red, green, or gray my Sim doesn't get a cue to pick it up.  Try looking at Stonehenge (usually at least one good one), around the Science Facility, and in the hill's between the stadium and the beach.

I go ahead and pick up all gems, hoping that a better one will spawn in its place.  I only cut them if I need to advance to better cuts, though.  After I get all the available cuts, I just sell the cheap ones raw.

Places I know - The Beach Cove below Landgraabs and Altos go as close over to a really big tall rock nearer the sea, The road to the Wolf's ad the hilly bit around them, The beach and top of cliff below Agnes Crumplebottom, Graveyard. Mine Shaft, Science.

Carl, even though you can stock the deathfish in your own pond at home, you aren't able to catch them 24/7. They still only come out at midnight. I know this because I once had a large lake on my lot, and i used the WA cheat buydebug, and placed fish spawners for death fish. I also stocked one of my ponds, and again, they only came out from midnight to 4 AM. <3

If you stock the pond the old fashioned way, ie catch 10 and use the 'stock pond' option, then they should be available at any time, I think the midnight to 5am limit must be a feature of the spawner.  I know that with my 'stocked' home pond I could catch them at any time of day and others have reported this as well.  Also with the spawner there may be a limit on how many you can catch on any one night (possibly 3-6) while the 'stock pond' is unlimited, unless they've changed it recently but I've not seen anything listed in the patch notes.

I believe there's a difference when you stock the pond manually, as HelenP mentioned.  The spawner will automatically do the midnight thing because that's the normal nature of Deathfish.  But catching them and stocking them in your pond 10 at a time lets you fish them any time.

Just corroborating what Helen said, if you stock your pond, you will be able to catch anything you want any time you want (as long as it is stocked, obviously). I have caught 15+ deathfish a day with a fisherman.
