The Memoirs of Laura Fearless, Part 5
Simple Times

No, you won't ever guess how the day started out. Laundry, as usual. I am so tired of hanging that pile of clothes each time. My back hurts awfully. I am pregnant, you know! Time to buy a dryer, that's for sure. I know that the furniture store has a couple on sale, but they're just too expensive. Maybe later.

The morning paper has arrived. Stress, stress, and stress again. Nothing new, except of a few weddings and politic scandal. Well, nothing useful either.

Reading the paper was interrupped by an unpleasant cry from the Nursery. Anna was hungry. I don't want to lose my other children too, so I rushed there quickly. In no time Anna was enjoying her breakfast.

You know, that's rather cruel to let a pregnant woman starve. By saying 'pregnant woman', I understand myself. Our funds didn't allow a nice dinner, even a simple mac and cheese was too expensive. Maybe I can snag some products from the Grocery whilst working? Oh my, what am I saying... No, I should not steal, never.
Though, an old serving of conserved soup was waiting to be eaten in the fridge. I grabbed it, not wanting to starve.

After the sunset, it was just the time for a nice fishing session. I totally forgot that our house is surrounded by a nice fishing spot. I headed there, with the right equipment. Hmm, seems like nothing as of now. I guess it's my unluckiness... I am such a loser, I always keep hoping, but useless... It's forever...

But I'll keep on going. I am, I will. FOREVER! No matter what.

I was able to catch one tiny fish, which earned me around 5 dollars, not bad, not bad at all. Unfortunately, I became sleepy in a short time, so I had to stop. I couldn't believe I didn't hear a single cry from the Nursery. Unbelievable.
Spoke too soon. As I was merrily sleeping, Jackson broke the silence. He was followed by Leo, Anna and Clarice. Of course, I didn't get a minute to sleep afterwards. The expression on my face was pretty obvious - Oh God, not again...

The Memoirs of Laura Fearless, Part 6
A Set of Birthdays

The next day was very exciting. In early morning, I visited the Grocery store to buy a birthday cake. Luckily, they had a sale. Unfortunately, it didn't help. I proudly grabbed four cakes in hopes that they won't cost much. But when the saleswoman said '120 dollars altogether', I was shocked. That's the price of my bed! We couldn't afford it, no way. I begged her to lower the price, told her about my situation, but she was reluctant. She clearly repeated '120 dollars, no less'. I had no other choice, but to buy only one cake. That, at least, costed me 30 dollars, leaving me with only 10 dollars. We're broke, I guess. Again...
The biggest problem awaited me at home. Which one of the kids should blow up the candles? I thought of a wise solution. It was in one of the pregnancy books I read at the library. Toddler races! The child, who came first will win. It wouldn't be fair to choose the child myself, so I used it. Ready, set, go!

Little Anna won! Leo looked quite disappointed, though.

While the newspaper girl was scared, I don't know why. Monster? Where, where?

I was so happy for Anna. I picked her up, lighted the single candle and let her blow it up.

In the meantime, others aged up, as well. Little Leo started sparkling the first.

He was followed by little Clarice.

Whilst I was hanging the laundry, little Jackson aged up too.

The last one was Anna. All of them looked quite happy. But they'll never know how happy I was. My children are... well, children, from now on.

I quickly took away the cake, so that we could have a proper meal for the next few days. Unfortunately, it was too late.

Children received 100 dollar checks each, from the City Hall. That was just in time. Our household funds summed up to a total 460 dollars. We did a nice renovation of the Nursery. It looks quite good now, with beds, and skill building objects for each of them. We even held a yard sale, which turned out to be quite profitable, bringing in about as much as we had.

After all, I am happy to say, that the day was the best day in my life. Now, let's meet all the children. I keep thinking about my baby on the way, though.

~You may say that I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will live as one~

Simstar, they're all adopted, so no fathers as far as I know. :)

Sorry, haven't updated in a while. With all the troubles in school, exam preparation, hard work all in all, I am having the worst moment for a writer, WRITER'S BLOCK!  :-\ Just can't think of enough drama for the story, but I promise I'll try to keep thinking and come up with something good. :)

UPDATE: Sorry for the double (triple) post, but I have finally decided to continue this story! New updates coming today - Chapter 8 (The Kids Don't Stand a Chance) and Chapter 9 (Welcoming ----). '----' indicates the name of Laura's unborn baby, I decided to not force a girl or a boy, that's why I don't know the exact name. Whatever, definitely coming today!
