I can't click on my Sims!

I've had TS3 since it came out and just got LN the other day. I installed them both on my brother's computer and after downloading the game and the patches I made a family. Now, I've played TS3 on this computer before and never had a problem but now I can't interact with my sims. Objects are not a problem, just the sims themselves. Help?

First of all, welcome to the forum.
Second, you say: You got LN, then downloaded it. Does this mean that you downloaded it from a 3rd party site (not EA or www.thesims3.com)?

When you load the launcher, is it partly white with a screen saying something like:

"you are playing an illegal copy of the sims 3"?

If so, it's probably because you downloaded it.

I bought it from wal-mart about two days ago, completely legal. I'm not sure if it's called installing or downloading though. And everything else seems to be working fine except I can't make my sims interact with each other or anything else where I need to click on a sim.

Are all sims affected? Or just a couple.

I've tried the sims I just made and a couple in Bridgeport. Then I saved and quit thinking that might help and tried it again. Then I made a new save game and used Sunset Valley and tried two different households there. I'm not sure what else to try.

Welcome to the forum, famousjamous.

When you say you can't interact with sims, what exactly do you mean?
Do you mean that you can't select the sim in your hosuehold, or when you click on another sim to use social interactions nothing happens?

If it's the second, what happens when you hover over another sim?
Does the arrow turn into a little picture of a person? Or does it remain normal? Or does it go blank?
Also, can other sims interact with you?

Do you have any mods or custom content in your game?  Mods are notorious for causing multiple game problems, which is why discussion of them is strictly prohibited on this site.  But if you had installed mods previously, it is possible they may be causing problems with your new Late Night.

Edit:  If you have mods, please don't name them here.  But if you have any mods or custom content, I'd suggest uninstalling them and seeing if that fixes your game.

Typically mods that inject interactions will cause this.  Any time you add something official to the game, the unofficial changes that you've made will usually not be compatible.  They'll almost always have to be removed and updated any time you get an expansion or a patch.

I've had this happen to me before, but it was a large save file, and I just ended up scrapping it.  I can't even remember what the exact problem was, I think that I could select my sim but clicking on her wouldn't bring up the menu to Change Outfit/Phone options, nor would clicking on other sims bring up any interactions.  So yeah, I deleted that file and haven't had the problem since.  No mods or CC, just a weird bug I guess.

If you're not running any mods, then you may need to un-install the game and re-install it to see if that helps. It could be something got corrupted in the installation somewhere.

I do have the same problem. It started after i updated game to patch 1.36 ..
I can't click on my active sim, i can't click on the phone, computer or newspaper. I don't know if there is more, these are just the ones that i realized. This is just so annoying. I don't use any mod or custom content by the way.

I'm sorry to necro an old thread, but I'd been having this same problem in my Dynasty, post-Showtime. My magician will get these tiny glitches where he is unable to be clicked on, as is his phone. resetSim doesn't work.

However, I did find what appears to be a workable solution - twice now, I've successfully had him use his phone, and once the phone call is ended, he is able to be clicked on, as is his phone. The first time, there was a broken shower, so I clicked on the shower, and chose "call repairman" - the second time, I went into his relationship panel, and just had him "chat" with a friend.

Hopefully, this is will help someone else.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work for me. I can use relationship pannel to invite over or chat with other sims but, i can't do more.
