How can I buy Simpoints through PayPal in the Netherlands?
« on: March 19, 2011, 12:50:00 PM »
On this link I wanted to buy simpoints through PayPal because I don't have a credit card. But when I want to fill in my data the only option I have for country is America and than all the states. The fact is, as many of you know, I don't live in America but in the Netherlands/Europe so does anybody know how I can pay simpoints through PayPal in the EU?

Hello Leto,

I can't help you for the PayPal settings since I've never used it. Yet, I've found a topic on the sims web site that could interest you. Here is the link: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/268299.page#3549253 (scroll down to the last post, probably the most relevant for you).

Besides this, I remembered having read something about 'Wallie card', that could help you too. Basically, this is a cash card that you can purchase in a retail shop. It seems to be available in the Netherlands and to work with EA games and sims points. I woulds make some further inquiries just to be sure if I were you :-) Here is the link about it on the forum: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/351184.page#4842159 (scroll down too). And here is the Wallie site: https://www.wallie.com/pages/Home/74.

I'm interested in this matter too. I've almost run out of the 'free points' from the base game and WA, and I'm thinking about purchasing some sims points to satisfy my addiction to this game and all it's shiny goodies (aka store stuffs). And I live in the same corner of Europe than you, more precisely in the small crazy country just south of Netherlands!. That's why the wallie option atracted my attention. Now, I just have to hunt this down here.

Have you selected Netherlands under "Select Language"?  I know I had to select English - Canada in order for the PayPal options to come up for my country.

You can find the Select Language at the very bottom of the Home page or the Store page.

Hope that works for you.

@Fleur: Thanks for the language selection tip. I first must look really close before I saw it wasn't in the list but at the very bottom (which I should have taken litterly :P) of the page indeed. I've choosen English for in case I could help someone else on this forum without giving exidentially a wrong translation. An odd thing is that the prices are exactly the same in dollars or euro's. 16.000 simpoints for E160,- or $160,-.

@Bella, thanks for the great help on posting all those links and I think I will go for a WallieCard indeed, when I got the money to pay that, including the simpoints. :) I will try to remember to inform you once I have it because I saw it could be used in Belgium too, which for you would be very 'plesant.' ;)

Leto, you'll have to select your language at the sims 3 store, it's on the bottom of the page, not very obvious. I selected English-UK and that is the only way the price changed to British pounds and I could put my  paypal information in.

I might be able to inform you sooner, for I have in my mind to hunt down this 'magic card' tomorrow in the shops (the simspoints left on my account are dangerously getting closer to 0, especially since the last daily deals...).

I usually set the language on English/US on EA site since it seems to be the one gathering the most players. This morning, I changed it for my settings in Belgium, and I saw that under the Store/my account/purchase points, the wallie card as payement option appeared. So I guess it's rather good news ... or a bad one for my expenses!

Please do. I don't have the money to buy things right now, so I can not spend what I don't have. But if this magic card works for me I will probably use it anyway later on.
The Futuristic furniture is exactly what I need for an upcoming video. (Little hint: no, that video isn't setup in the past. :P)

Report time: it's a success!

I found it in Belgium in a Free Record Shop. I don't know if you have those in NL. I was a bit late so I didn't check too much in other shops, but the Fnac and there, they didn't know what it is. I think Hema and Kruidvat also sell Wallie cards.

It's not a 'card' really but a code printed on the ticket from the register. You can purchase 5, 10, 20 & 50 euros worth cards.

Then on EA site, it's pretty straightforward too. It seems the only point to check is that you must be logged under your real location settings, so for me it was French/Belgium for instance [*see below]. Then, under My Account in the Store section, you click on Purchase Simpoints => Wallie Card and you follow the steps (choose how many points you want to buy, accept some terms of contract...). At some point, you'll be send to a 'wallie screen' where you can enter the code you received at the retail shop. After confirmation, you are sent back to the store section and your account is credited with the amount of points you just bought. It can't be easier I think.

And then, I'm afraid I must confess it was the start of the shopping frenzy *blushing*. Well, it was the first time in almost 2 years, so it's not that bad, right? ;D

*: from what I've read on the different forums (US, BE, FR...), it seems that you have to be logged under the same local setting that the one of your mean of payment. An example should make this clearer: imagine an American person, with a US credit card, and living in the Netherlands. If he wants to buy simspoints with his US card, he will have to log under English/US settings, whether he lives there or not. At least, this is what I've understood.

Thank you very much BellaClo for this very practical information. I will use it when I have money to spend on the site so I can finally buy those Future Kitchen and Future Living Room set later on in the uh... future.
We do indeed have Free Record Shops. I remember that they where the only shop where I could buy The Sims 3 World Adventures. The rest had it next week or so, so that shop has already saved my life once. :) We also have a Hema and Kruidvat but I've never heard of a Fnac actually.

Nonetheless, I'm happy I've posted this topic here so I can finally buy simpoints later on, when I'm in the nearest big city. Thanks again!
