are you on voice track three females? Because every dialect is different. Most of the time I prefer to leave it up to the imagination.

I've noticed that, too, actually.  And it seems that only first generation townies and Sims from CAS have different voices.  Everything else sounds like voice track one to me.

Also, jeanamariex3, would you please be more careful with capitalizing the first word of your sentences?  I've been having to edit some of your posts.  Thanks.

I'd love that too. But it's getting harder for the person who does it each time EA releases a new Sims game. With Medieval just released, and including the medieval times' Simlish, Sims 2, and Sims 1 dialects, it becomes harder and harder each time. Well, I hope someone will get down to work.

Even in Sims 1 and 2, it required a good amount of guesswork.  But like I said, translating it isn't as simple as just figuring out what the words mean.  Most phrases require the context provided by the pictures in the headline effects.

Ooh, I saw a simlish dictionary a while back for sims 2, but since it has been so long since I played - well before sims 3 was released, I've no idea where I found it. I have noticed that their language has evolved and changed a bit since sims 1.  I did notice a few words still staying though. The first one coming to mind would be:

Woofum (clearly this means dog).

Haven't identified actual words yet, but I hate the way she refuses an opportunity by saying
"la la la la"  with attitude. You can almost hear her thinking 'talk to the hand cos no-one's listening'.

Ooh, I saw a simlish dictionary a while back for sims 2, but since it has been so long since I played - well before sims 3 was released, I've no idea where I found it.

I've seen it, too and basically that's where this idea came from.  However the problem that we ran into with this one is that, because the dialogue wasn't scripted (i.e. the voice actors just speak gibberish with a certain voice inflection), each voice track will have it's own unique words for the same situation.  Coupled with the context required from the headline effects, this makes pinning down an actual translation (even a vague one) close to impossible.

I haven't heard from this topic in ages. Anyways I am going to make a list of Pet commands in Simlish while we are on this topic. I will edit my post as I discover more words to these commands.

I've heard sims say it when they gossip between one another.

I've heard some of my sims say 'Dag Dag' when greeting a sim at the door, as opposed to saying goodbye...

I think 'Dag Dag' is more of like saying 'What's Up'. My sim says it to friends when passing them sometimes.

When a sim is eating and sometimes, when they cough, they'll say "meeba."  I take it to mean, "wow, almost choked there."

Sometimes when sims greet each other one of them say jawohl. I think it is german lol!
