After taking a look at Pam's Sims Anonymous thread, I thought about creating a thread solely for a Simlish Dictionary!

Whippna Choba Dog!This is cool!

Oh Feebee Lay!I'm Hungry!

Blursh! Meshaloob! Blursh!Excuse me! Get out of my way!
(A longer list is maintained at this site, thanks RunAmokSims!)

Advice on translation
  • According to Pam and jeanamariex3, every dialect (voice track) is different. Please bear this in mind if you want to contest a word.
  • Simlish translation is not easy - you have to look at context, reactions, and occaisionally, thought bubbles.
  • Due to the nature of Simlish, it is very difficult to spell. Therefore, words above are likely misspelt. As long as you have a general idea of how to spell it, it's fine.

If you find another word(s), please post them below, with an English Translation.

I've read about the word for pizza, but I haven't heard my Sims say it.  Are you taking that from previous knowledge of Sims 2 or have you actually heard your Sims 3 Sims say it?

Generally speaking, I don't order Pizza for my sims (even when they want it), and I didn't for sims 2. I THINK they've said it. I'll check again. I'll also take it down from the list while I do.

What fun - now we can all start learning Simlish and finally know for sure what those little characters have been saying!  Thanks for starting this thread, Seabody.  I look forward to seeing what other words everyone's learned.

Whippna Choba Dog/This is cool!

It's what your sims say when they get new stuff, and they like the object they "check out".

Have you guys ever noticed that all the signs are in a weird language too? Most of them are just pictures. All the cop cars have the numbers 329 on them. I guess the written language in the game is just Zodiac signs in Wingdings font. I thought the creators might have actually made a language that you could translate but it doesn't look like it.

Zodiac signs in Wingdings font!  I always wondered where that writing came from.  Thanks for sharing that, gravydavy.  And welcome to the forum.

I thought the creators might have actually made a language that you could translate but it doesn't look like it.

The problem I ran across was that the language doesn't consist of just words.  It consists of pictures that appear in the conversation/thought bubbles above the sim's heads.  Likewise, certain phrases are only spoken by a particular age bracket or gender.  It's a language that transmits basic concepts, so a word for word translation isn't possible.  But there are certain phrases that are only spoken in certain circumstances, and as a result of that, a basic conceptual translation of phrases is quite possible.

Here's a couple that I know for sure:

Female:  "Za woka jenava!" - I think you're hot! (flirting)
Female:  "Sulsul! Plerg Majah Bliff? - Hello!  Can I go and do something else? (a need is low)

Awesome idea! I don't think I can add anything, but while playing Sims 3 on mobile, I heard the phrase 'Kawim Chi Chimba Kalakiya' quite often. It appears in the main game too, while chatting a random Sim. I believe it means 'How Are You?'.

I'll test the words soon, I promise!
Right now I'm working on an inventors house with a foyer that was built later.

EDIT: I'm done with the build. I'm also uploading some shots to the gallery to feature in the showboat thread.
EDIT 2: 50 posts! Woo!

Ooh be gah!: Very good! My sim always uses it when teaching my toddler. Good sa day is used as well.
Bansa is used as an encouragement I believe before the toddler says the word being taught.

Are you on voice track three females? Because every dialect is different. Most of the time I prefer to leave it up to the imagination.

EDIT: never mind.
Hello: Swuzel is voice track number two. Swula is voice track three.
whip na chava: is voice track one.
Swoka Janava: Voice track three.
Dag Dag is usually childs voice, and can be hello of good bye.
