First Mortal - One and One Makes ThreeKlonah lives in Sunset Valley with her boyfriend, Dustin. They are expecting their first child. Klonah has just discovered that there are certain things that she needs to do if she doesn't want her unborn child to die.
Most of Klonah's worries seem to vanish when she looks into Dustin's eyes. The love and approval in them helps seal over the cracks of worry.
Plus, Dustin asks such wonderful questions.
Ah but how she loves this man.
Catching a glimpse of sadness on Klonah's face, Dustin worries that the fast engagement and quiet marriage, planned for later that day, will not fulfil her childhood fantasies of her wedding day. He promises her anything within his power to give and she requests a portrait of herself, so that she will remember how she felt as a young adult, on this day, forever. He agrees but hopes that he will paint joy in her eyes, not the anxiety and sadness that he can clearly see.
So, onto the big day, in their best clothes, in the open air kitchen with the flowers
and with these rings...
Dustin doesn't need to learn how to kiss the bride.
He does need to learn how to paint, though. His first attempt at a portrait is a disaster. He quits his job and works hard at fulfilling his promise to his bride.
Dustin hasn't yet achieved the skill to paint a portrait when the night comes.
The night of the arrival.
It's just after Dustin has persuaded her to get changed and goes off to hail a taxi that Klonah realises, with shock that she can't go to the hospital, she has a faulty gene, what if they discover it? What if they discover... then it's too late. No more time to worry. A strange calm falls over her.
Aww, nooboo!
