The Vaklone Venture - An Immortal Dynasty
« on: March 13, 2011, 02:56:19 PM »
I've been dipping in and reading stories whenever I've had the spare time and have been really enjoying them. I've also been reading the Dynasty Challenge thread.  I was intimidated by the challenge, so sure that I wouldn't be able to do it and would fail and so wasn't going to attempt it. However, I've seen some of you fail, make light of it and then try again. It's a bit sad that I've been afraid to even start.

So here goes, hope that it's readable and that it will get better as it goes along - however long it lasts.

Prologue

It is said that clones have no soul. Clones have no feelings. Clones are not real sims and should not live amongst us. Clones are nothing more than a lower form of animal. Clones cannot laugh or cry or love but they can rage and hate. Clones should be restricted and rigidly controlled.

Clones have been created as spare body parts banks; as body doubles; as subjects for experimentation'; as host mothers; as workers for hazardous environments and for other more nefarious purposes.  Whatever the rich sim or corporation desires. Morality and ethics do not apply to clones.

However, not all sims believe this.  Some sims can see beyond the petri dish and the CAS screen and the duplicated dna and the prejudices.  It is one such sim that set me free. She gave me a new identity, some cash and a plot of land in a place faraway. I owe her my life.

'Live free', she said, 'live free and try to live forever.'

For I am a clone. I am a clone of a genetically modified clone. I could be cynical and believe that my freedom is just another experiment but I choose, instead, to believe otherwise and live: whether that will be forever, or not, only time will tell.

I am amongst you.  I am Klonah Vaklone.

First Mortal - Beginnings

Klonah starts her new life rattling around on a big, empty plot: number 15, Summerhill Court, Sunset Valley.

Coming from a sterile, creche background, she's fascinated by growing things and longs to cook the nourishing meals using natural ingrediants that she never tasted until she was freed. She's a little daunted by the prospect of her new life but is determined to overcome her fear and tackle it head on and try not to fret too much if there is a little mess along the way.

Klonah can't help but notice the stares of a man standing in front of a neighbouring property.  Time to test whether or not she'll pass for simian. She hurries over to greet the man.

Nick Alto greets her affably. He even suggests that, in return for working as a caretaker, that she spends her nights at the local fire station whilst her house is being built. She's taken the first step, she's passed as a sim.

Living at the fire station has its perks

but sharing her meals in the park begins to pall,

so the first thing that Klonah builds at number 15 is a small kitchen.

Klonah learns to cook.

Sometimes there are success and at other times failures but she learns.

Fresh fruit is easy to find and she finally starts her longed for garden.

Fish is virtually free food, the only cost being the time it takes to catch them. There is a learning curve but the rewards are large.

The additional money helps to pay the bills but Klonah does not dream of being a fisherman, Klonah dreams of being a celebrated chef so, perhaps, it is time to get a job.

First Mortal - Findings

Klonah has recently arrived in Sunset Valley. She owns a large plot of land but has only been able to afford to build a small kitchen so she sleeps and bathes at the local Fire Station.  She's started a garden and is learning to fish but her money has run out and she needs to work to pay the bills.

She spots her dream job in the local paper. In her excitement, she hardly notices when she tears the paper.

The interview process includes a 'Dish Showdown'.  She's apprehensive as she enters the diner but wins first place.  She impresses the chef and achieves minor celebrity status.  The job is hers.

There is a downside to the celebrity status.  No longer feeling secure at the fire station, Klonah takes to sleeping in the park relieved that at least she has a bench to go to at the end of a long shift.

Finally she saves enough money to buy a bed and build a small bathroom.  Number 15 is now home.  It's a lonely home, though.

Klonah has no trouble meeting men.  The trouble lies in finding the right one and keeping him.  So many were married or in relationships or else they left Sunset Valley or left their normal lives to embrace a darker lifestyle.  Although she's happy to remain friends with the vampires - she knows what it is like to be different - she doesn't wish to share her home with one.

As she basks in the warmth of her new hot tub, she dreams of a future that will include a warm pair of arms and a patter of tiny feet.

First Mortal - One and One...

Klonah has moved to Sunset Valley to start a new life.  She has a job and the beginnings of a home and now she wishes to find someone to share it with.

Now, he may not be everyone's cup of tea but he is certainly Klonah's.  This is Dustin Langerack, a co-worker.  Whilst delivering some tasty ingrediants to him, Klonah found herself very attracted and, for the first time, expressed a wish to have her first kiss.

Granted.

Dustin breaks up with his existing partner to be with Klonah and Klonah just can't believe her luck.

They are very much in love

but probably won't get up to much more than kissing until Klonah builds some bedroom walls.  (Drat those paparazzi.)

Well now, maybe I spoke a little too soon.

There are consequences.

Dustin was delighed and happy to move in.

Klonah's wish is for a girl (I'm no help as I can't remember if it is watermelons or apples - will have to go look it up).

Dustin's wish is to marry Klonah (aww).

However, before that could be fulfilled he started to feel a little strange.

Oh my, I wasn't expecting that!

Still, at least he seems happy.

Nice start, Number One.  ;) Check the thread title very carefully. You missed a "t." Lol — I bet a few more players clicked the story though just to see what was up.  ;D

Hehe, I didn't notice that. "An Immoral Dynasty" sounds a bit sinister :D

Oops.  Just stopped giggling and corrected the spelling in the title.  Sorry about that.

Thank you all for the really kind, encouraging comments and thanks so much for the information on which fruit should result in a boy or a girl, you both saved me having to go look it up. Another reason why it's so nice on this forum - you're such friendly people, you all help without someone having to ask.  I think it is too late to experiment this time but I'll make sure to plant some watermelons.

I saved the game right after my shock at Dustin's aging up into an elder (he'd only just moved in and I hadn't yet checked his age) so I haven't met the little one yet.  I'm looking forward to seeing it.  May play later today, got to get a paintbrush into Dustin's hand as soon as possible!  Thanks again, all of you.
